ChillDoubtParticipant
Depends on the emergency :-)
I’m guessing you got fined lol
Not a chance…..I cycle everywhere!
Just amazed how this town has a continual propensity in shooting itself in the foot over parking issues.
The powers that be can’t seem to equate cheap/free parking with increased footfall and attendance to major events.
Ho-hum…..

Bryn6,
Aren’t you actually missing the point? The argument is about and for those who are either picking up partners with shopping or train passengers at the station, both of whom are there briefly for minutes. No, I’m really not. Your motives for entering the car park matter not. If you park up in one of the spaces and wait, or worse still, get out and go into Domino’s then you should expect to have to pay, on what planet would you not? The only exemption should be when you literally can’t find a space and have to leave. Don’t even get me started on people who think they can park for free because they’ve got a disabled badge!
I think you are!! On what planet would I not? Planet Bryn6 I guess!!
So by your reckoning, shouldn’t taxis who pick up shoppers from outside Iceland be expected to pay?? What about passengers being dropped off at the train station? Should the vehicles they alight from be charged? Seriously? Just for entering a car park for a minuscule, interim period?
By your rules they should pay too, yes?
I’d hazard a guess that you’re the type that would ticket a vehicle from the emergency services.

ChillDoubtParticipantJust what Wrexham needed eh? The town loses a massive event(ComicCon)event with parking issues being cited as a major issue, local businesses are struggling and shops are empty for months on end so what’s the solution?
Get a company with a dodgy, draconian reputation who make the Gestapo look like the Boy Scouts in to run the towns biggest car park.Pure genius!

ChillDoubtParticipantIn accordance with names of similar, more salubrious establishments I vote it be named Spicehead Wino, in line with the towns renowned image.
ChillDoubtParticipant
To summarise the general view of Wrexham & the Maelor car park.
A cancer patient, a nurse late for her shift and someone mobility disabled all turn up into the Maelor Car Park & there’s only one space available.
A virtue signalling tongue wagger chooses to chastise one or more of these groups from the comfort of their own parked spot instead of leaving and freeing up their space.
Phew, that counts me out given that I cycle to work every single day.
Just a shame more won’t give it a go.
ChillDoubtParticipantJaney,
Forgot to add, if a person with disabilities is unable to supposedly get a bus or taxi(there appear to be plenty that do accommodate wheelchairs etc) as you claim, then adversely have they got the ability to drive a car?Yes, it isn’t right that people park in spaces reserved for blue badge holders but I’m guessing that staff are of the mindset that if the public are parking in spaces reserved for staff, where else are staff supposed to park if no spaces are available?
Do you want staff on the ward and in clinics on time or not?
As I’ve said, far too many excuses for the constant over-use of cars, change your mindset and lifestyle.
ChillDoubtParticipant
Chilldoubt how can a disabled person who is in a wheelchair in addition to other problems get a “bus or taxi” instead?
Disabled spaces are for blue badge holders only. There is no defence, no reason or explanation that can possible make it right for someone without a blue badge to park there!
And you suggest a stroll? Again, how can someone with a disability do that?
::: Shakes head::::
Janey
Maybe you need to go back and read again what I said. I didn’t suggest people with a disability ‘go for a stroll’, I suggested those who spend ages looking for a space could park a little further out and then make their way to the hospital on foot.
As I’ve said, too many people become sedentary as a result of over-use of their cars. If some were prepared to give Shanks’s pony a go they’d greatly improve their health and hopefully negate the need to attend clinics, physio etc. Some need to get out of the reliance on cars for every single journey, particularly of distances less than 3 miles.
Basically, stop making excuses for constant use of your vehicle, change your mindset, it’ll improve your health and enhance your longevity.
ChillDoubtParticipant
If staff park in the disabled spots, where do genuinely disabled patients park when they arrive before 9am for their appointments?
could staff not do the right ting and move to non-disabled spots when they are on their breaks?
PS patients are often there for all day treatments (eg. cancer) not just 2 hours. They start the day stressed trying to park
So how long do you think it would take for a member of staff to leave a ward/dept, go to their car and then find a space? Go on, give me a wild guess!
As for patients having treatment for cancer etc I doubt they’d be parking and then driving after their treatment!
Sounds like some people just want to have a dig at the staff instead of using an alternative form of transport.
As I asked, do you want the staff in the ward giving you your treatment and care, or do you just want them to not inconvenience you as everyone attempts to find their own little spot?
They attend work five days a week(and more) whilst the public do do as and when, so think about whether or not your journey in the little metal box could be made via other means.
ChillDoubtParticipant
The non disabled nursing staff also need to be stopped from parking in the disabled spaces outside the main entrance, particularly in the evenings. It’s not very considerate considering they are working in the caring/nursing profession.
Janey
That’s easy to say, but when one considers that the ‘late’ car park(for staff who are working a 12.30-9 shift) has already been filled by the public and there aren’t any left on the ‘landing strip’ then where do you suggest? Do you want them to arrive in the ward in time to care for you or your relative or not?
They’re there for at least 8 hours don’t forget, you’re there for 2 at most.
Why not get a bus or taxi instead(especially if just for a one-off appointment) and leave the car at home?
Or park a little further away and stroll to the hospital, gaining the benefits of a little fresh air and avoiding that sedentary lifestyle that far too many or now fond of? -
