They sound a brilliant idea and will no doubt look stunning for the first few weeks months, but are they going to be sustainable in the long term?
We have electronic signage to tell us whether our council car parks are full or have spaces ,a good idea and costly to install but they are either never switched on or are broken.

A tidy, clean and weed free city centre is also an attraction. who wants to shop among discarded sleeping bags and other debris. Walk through the city centre streets with your eyes open and it’s obvious the priorities that need doing before installing solar power seating. Remember in the past the Council have removed litter bins and seating where they have caused a problem!

It’s the major problem with grant money. We get nice new things but not the budget to maintain them..

Exactly, they are looking where to spend this grant money, while small businesses in the city centre are facing massive rate rises. Westminister gave the Senedd money to match the English small business rate relief of 75%, but the Senedd voted to cut the support to 40% and spend the rest of the money elsewhere. Our Senedd members then wonder why the “high street “ is in decline!
