What a quaint old fashion view “ pastry lover “ has of politics. Economic stagnation-PAH .Food banks multiply, energy prices rocket ,the “ petrol panic “ that was denied , borrowings at its higher level ever. I could go on but this political ostrich would not recognise any of this being the creation of more than a decade of Tory Westminster government!!

Totally agree and needless to say I didn’t vote for either!
It appears that the non Tory representatives on the “ newly created fix up ( sorry sleaze review ) panel are not playing ball and Boris and Jacob are having to reverse their Putinesque tactics.
I am sure our “ whipped MPs “ will now follow the back down. Anyone from N Shropshire- call in your MP!

As someone who “retired “ from the council in 2017 ,after a total of 20 years I can assure your correspondents I reciece(d) no pension from the Clwyd Pension pot.You had to apply for it and I , and I believe most others ,didn’t.
On the general point Ms Harper makes if she was more of a historian of WCBC she would find a gender balance more to her liking in the early days of WCBC , with female councillors taking major portfolios, such as Social Services and Education. To date the only female leader of the council has been Labours Shan Wilkinson. I look forward to another female leader in May 2022 , and no Carrie it won’t be you ! I agree that we need a more diverse council , be that gender ,age and occupation. The councils have a job of work to do on such as times of meetings, arrangements to fit with modern working practices and much more . Political parties need to build on the Welsh government’s extension of democracy to 16 & 17 year old so the candidates they present to the electorate is more diverse. In truth Ms Harper’s foray is just a rather transparent plug for her Gresford candidate. Gresford is perfectly capable of selecting a good candidate without such a plug !

Owain Glyndwr – best to lay off the Penderyn – fine Welsh whiskey though it is . Neither Wrexham or Cornwall are cities -and long may that continue!

Independents – agree with the comments. Back in 93 when I was introduced to the Independent group leader I asked “ Independent- – Group , how does that work .”
Still waiting and has been pointed out some “ independents “ stood on one or other manifesto- all no doubt declaring “ if things change I will of course go straight back to my electorate.” Again despite my long local government experience I am still waiting!

    Thanks Liam

Take your word , so it seems like the communication of the news to the community from the new owners is what is lacking!

The report on the planning application is I believe faulty in one respect.
It states that the new owners of Wrexham AFC , who used the field until recently, when they secured a return to Colliers Park in Gresford.

As far as I , and fellow community councillors are concerned the use of Colliers Park is for the FAW – Football Association Wales .
Indeed I was at the celebration of their taking over the tenure in 2019.

Totally agree their needs to be an enquiry starting now into all the aspects of pandemic and its handling in the UK.
Astounded by the gross hypocrisy of the Welsh Tories in the Senedd who are asking for a Welsh enquiry , whilst their bosses in Westminster repeatedly say “ not yet – not yet ,” Any enquiry needs to be UK wide and the elements in Wales ( Scotland and N Ireland) to be part of that.
If/when there is an enquiry it would be interesting to note how UK representatives , from Wales have been so out of step with the strands of the disease, and the attempts to combat it in Wales !
Rather than playing pathetic games the Welsh Tories would be better employed asking for an overall UK enquiry NOW , and they may even get support across the Senedd for that .

I am probably not the one to compare councillor popularity in my own neck of the woods .
I would point out however that in a democracy it is the electors in a ward that ultimately measure that popularity not your Facebook mates . Whether our “ popular councillor would have won 5 elections out of 6 , over 24 years , or have continuous electoral success over 23 years , like some of his predecessors- Well I guess we will never know !

    Parking mad

You query that Mark Drakerford said he would retire after the Senedd election. Well he certainly did not retire BEFORE the election so that is another promise by Welsh Labour that has been kept!
