Very disappointed, but not surprised, that our two local MP’s voted to let their chum Owen Paterson off the proven charges of breaking lobbying rules. These were found proven by an independent Standards Committee of cross party MP’s. Boris Johnson instructed his MP’s to vote for an amendment letting Paterson off the hook and setting up a new Standards Committee made up of 5 Conservative MP’s and 4 Non Conservative MP’s. This will now ensure that any skulduggery will go unpunished. Disgusting behaviour all round, but you get what you vote for I guess.

Totally agree and needless to say I didn’t vote for either!
It appears that the non Tory representatives on the “ newly created fix up ( sorry sleaze review ) panel are not playing ball and Boris and Jacob are having to reverse their Putinesque tactics.
I am sure our “ whipped MPs “ will now follow the back down. Anyone from N Shropshire- call in your MP!

Thank goodness that opposition parties expressed their disgust at the blatant attempt by Johnson to protect one of his own from justifiable sanctions and shame on those that followed his instructions.

This morning however, the decision to change the rules has been reversed and another vote is likely on whether to suspend.

Let’s hope that our locally elected MP’s will respond to that vote morally, reflecting the views of the public at large who are generally incensed by the blatant, devious and underhand tactics of this government.

Awkward! Maybe a lesson to both of them , vote for what you believe in and take the consequences. Those Conservatives, who did not follow the party line yesterday , have in-fact brought the government to their senses and the U Turn.

    Justice has been done!!

Owen Paterson has resigned as an MP it has been announced.

That certainly lets Atherton and Baynes off the hook as they will no longer have to show their true colours.

Now his money making scheme has come to an end Paterson didn’t want to hang around and spend his days dealing with the concerns of the common people aka his constituents, so he has resigned.

It is cute that Labour is still seen as as an opposition party by its supporters. It is sad that strike action and economic stagnation still has its appeal.

What a quaint old fashion view “ pastry lover “ has of politics. Economic stagnation-PAH .Food banks multiply, energy prices rocket ,the “ petrol panic “ that was denied , borrowings at its higher level ever. I could go on but this political ostrich would not recognise any of this being the creation of more than a decade of Tory Westminster government!!

Parliament is an odd place, one MP resigns his seat after being found guilty by the in house Standards Committee , while another is still hanging on to her seat after being found guilty in a criminal court and receiving a suspended prison sentence.
