Not surprised they’ve closed considering the exorbitant prices they were charging.

    Spot on Councillor x.
When I first read JaneJ’s post the first thought that came to mind was utter garbage and crass stupidity and unworthy of direct comment.
However, after reading your post, I felt obligated to support your excellent retort.

However much I hope, I can’t see Johnson losing the vote of confidence in Parliament this evening.
Tory MP’s especially, are in politics for whatever benefits they can accrue personally and not for the benefit of the country or those that elected them.
The 2019 intake are likely to toe the party line and I cannot see how our illustrious duo will behave any differently.
We, the electorate of Wrexham cocked up by voting the way the majority did – based on lies and untruths. Now we are all reaping the benefits.

I can’t disagree with you Jane. I’m not surprised in the slightest that Bradford have been awarded the 2025 accolade.
Just out of interest, I checked the ‘what’s on’ pages for the respective candidates. In terms of quality events, Wrexham comes in a very lowly 4th.
Granted, lots of things have been going on in the run up to selection, but sadly, pretty much with the odd exception, of a low calibre.
Unfortunately, now that it’s all over for another 4 years, I anticipate a rapid decline in meaningful culture based activities.
At great expense no doubt the old Hippodrome site was transformed to a children’s play area simply to impress the judging panel. Now, at half term, it’s once again boarded off and out of use.
However much we are told that Ty Pawb is a jewel in the crown but in reality, it’s just paste.

I agree that A&E is totally misused and abused by people who, with a little common sense could alleviate the problem substantially.

Another factor, I’m quite convinced is the ridiculously stupid name of the Health Board. It give no indication whatsoever of its geographic location. Why not call it what it is – North Wales Health Board?

Following the news that the 2 Independent groups have amalgamated to create the largest party in WCBC and will now be running the Council or the next 5 years, quite frankly, makes me want to vomit.

Voters, you were warned. There is no such thing as an Independent in Wrexham.

I have been saying the same thing as Jane fo a long time now.

Anyone who declares themselves to be ‘Independent’ and then joins a group is deceiving the electorate and in my view, morally reprehensible and unworthy of serving in public office.

What really grips me after reading the majority of the responses to the questionnaires completed is how parochial the responses are.
They focus on what they promise for their ward but generally fail to go into any depth as to what the would do for Wrexham County Borough as a whole. Platitude after platitude.

Also interesting to note are the responses from Independents. Some quite clearly indicate that they are willing to join a ‘group’ with other Independents (why not call a spade a spade and be up front and admit that it is a party by any other name?)
I am also totally unconvinced that those who maintain the free spirit approach will do so for long ,if elected.

I think we need to get back to recognised party politics where there is an effective opposition who question and challenge rather than the coalition of ‘like minded’ Independents who, rather than being that, follow the ‘group’ line.

One only has to look at governance in the County over the period of the current administration, to see that it just doesn’t work – neither here or anywhere.

Carrie Harper has been a thorn in the side of the Executive for a long time now. She puts forward reasoned questions and cohesive arguments that they find difficulty in responding to.
It comes as no surprise that one or more of its members has resorted to this type of tactic.
Stick with it Cllr. Harper – you still have the moral high ground.

“……….as their voice will never be heard”

They would if the Council returned to decisions being made by full Council rather than a hand picked clique of 10 ardent followers.
The Executive system does not work effectively as elected members are stifled from making a contribution at every turn.

May i remind you of the meeting to decide on the City status bid?
