Plans submitted for microbrewery on Wrexham farm

Plans have been put forward which could result in a microbrewery being created on a farm in Wrexham.

The application to Wrexham Council seeks permission to convert an agricultural building on Old Farm in Bowling Bank, near Wrexham Industrial Estate.

The steel frame structure was previously part of a dairy business and used for rearing animals.

Planning agents acting on behalf of applicant Richard Williams said the proposals would help to boost the local economy.

In a statement submitted to the local authority, they said: “The proposed change of use is a diversification of an existing farm enterprise while involving the relocation of a rural business.

“The proposal seeks to reuse an existing agricultural building. The business brings economic benefits to the local area through direct employment.

“From the information provided it is judged that the proposal is a small-scale business which will bring some sustainable benefits both environmentally and economically.

“The proposal would not generate unacceptable levels of traffic and include sufficient parking and manoeuvring space.”

Old Farm was previously home to a dairy business, which was said to have created a large volume of traffic.

The agents said the proposed change of use would lead to significantly less vehicles passing through the site.

A decision will be made on the application by the council at a later date.
