BenjaminMParticipantIs the Wrexham game being televised? If so, does anyone know on which channel it is being broadcast?
In anticipation of some advice, thanks.
BenjaminMParticipantDemolish the bloody place and make it into a car park. It is neither use nor ornament. Grade 2 listed building – pathetic!!!
BenjaminMParticipantSlightly off topic I know, but I do object strongly to Council run car parks allowing free unlimited parking to blue badge holders whilst everyone else is required to pay. Surely if one is able to walk from a car park to the shops, they have the ability to put their hand into their pocket. Free road tax, ability to park anywhere with immunity, isn’t that enough? Too many blue badges around now-young people who are not disabled or even eligible for them are abusing the system. A crackdown on them would be more appropriate tha targeting other motorists for minor infringements.
As a last thought, if I park on a double yellow for example, I am causing a hazard yet if you have a blue badge, you are not.
Just keep your eyes open when you walk around town and I am absolutely certain my comments will be borne out.
BenjaminMParticipantIn reply to Wayneinspain, who is very good at posing questions without giving constructive comment, if a shop advertises in its’ window that items are ‘new’, it seems a fair bet that the item is new, particularly if they have several boxed, unopened items of the same description.
In addition, I have seen job adverts for shop managers for charity shops at quite attractive salaries, for several major charities.
The original concept of ‘charity shop’ was and still is, an institution or organisation set up to provide help, money etc to those in need- without ripping people off and ruining legitimate traders businesses.
As a final point, I lived abroad for a number of years, and rather than passing comment about something and somewhere I left behind, I immersed myself in things that concerned me, in the place I was living.
I’m afraid that Wayneinspain falls neatly into the definition of ‘expert’, ie ex- a has been, spurt-a drip under pressure.
Please leave sensible and constructive comments up to those who have the ability to make them.
BenjaminMParticipantZinger is obsessed with this topic. He/she even manages to raise it on the article regarding the new hotel under construction. I say again, except for the front facade, the building has no architectural or cultural importance and should be put to a use that is more in keeping with modern day. Many, many changes WERE made around 2000. Perhaps he/she should keep their reminiscences in their minds eye and let development take its natural course. Or perhaps, get a life.
BenjaminMParticipantFurther to zingers posts 9 06 and 10 17pm, I have viewed the YouTube videos referred to and they certainly do not reflect the condition of the building today. They are years old despite only being posted in 2010. North Wales Fire Service spent many thousands of pounds converting the areas mentioned into a breathing apparatus training gallery around 1999-2000. I know, because I was there.
BenjaminMParticipantI worked in that building for a number of years (not with mines rescue though). The alterations that took place inside rendered it unrecognisable from its original use and anything that utilises the building for whatever purpose must be welcomed. What about a hostel for the homeless of Wrexham?
