The Wrexham Chester bus service during the certain times that you mention, is and has been poor for a long time to say the least, once you get past 9 30 it is fine again, but even so I have never quite got it how they can be 30 minutes late from a 12 minute service, I have even been in touch with the company on many occasions, with no satisfactory explanation…

If only that were the case. I use the Wrexham/Chester bus to take my son to school. He goes to Acton. I also use it to get back into town afterwards. I get the 8:35 service from the bus station which has been no more than a couple of minutes late. The service coming back INTO town is a nightmare, even by 9am. I was at the bus stop by the Acton pub this morning just after 9 (by which I mean a minute or 2 after 9) and waited until half 9 for a bus. I do expect delays, not so much because of work being carried out (there isn’t any in the daytime) but because of the roadworks etc that are up, cones and the likes and the traffic calming measures for during the day. But given that the Wrexham/Chester service is supposed to run every 12 minutes, I wouldn’t expect a 30 minute delay.

Unfortunately this is going to be the reality of things in terms of public transport for the foreseeable future. One thing is for certain, if I want to go to Chester in the next 7 months, I’ll used the Jones’ C56 service instead.

From what I can make out up to now, the work is only being done at night between 9pm and 5am Again from what I can make out from the notices on the Wrexham Chester buses, during these hours the bus from Wrexham will go as far as Rake lane and then go through Eccelston and once in Handbridge will go back to the first Chester roundabout I call it and then back towards Wrexham to do the Chester Business Park and then back to Chester and vice versa the other way I would think, they say all this will add 10 minutes to the overall journey.

Single decker buses will be used during this time, but as I say the way I read it, is that it is only between 9pm and 5am which I guess means only buses after 9pm will be affected as I don;t think there are any before 5am and the Wrexham by pass is unafffected for the time being I guess… :)

Anyway that’s the way I read it, am I right ????

This confirms what many of us have already concluded but it’s still pretty shocking to see it in black and white. 357th out of 379 local authorities for post-recession recovery. There is nothing left to hide behind anymore.

Until we start having frank, honest debates in the same tone as those shoppers, families, small businesses, national chains who are conciously avoiding Wrexham then the situation can not improve. In response to the report, Neil Rogers’ rather desperate defence of his record as ‘lead member for economic development and regeneration’ will only reduce confidance even further that any postive change is around the corner.

I’m rather surprised this story was not reported in full on Wrexham.com. I hope we’re not avoiding bad news stories.

Correct Adam it is exactly how most people in Wrexham see it, have said before the £ shops are in Wrexham for a reason they have done their homework :(

Anyone else noticed now many of the drains in the town have grass growing up through the grid? When we have a storm or even heavy rain look out for flash flooding.Have the Council just cut back on their cleaning programme or stopped it all together?

You are right, they apparently have now got only 2 vehicles to clear grids/drains etc. to do the whole borough and then they only come out if there is a complaint made.:(

Just a note MP1953, not all of us are philistines and some of us do have horizons that extend beyond a pie and a pint.

Not many left in Wrexham Benjamin, most of the people that are attracted by “cultural portfolios” in Wrexham have long gone and replaced by people that are more attracted to pound shops, of which has all been brought on by years of poor decisions in Wrexham.. ;););););) …..

A welcome addition to the sadly lacking cultural portfolio of Wrexham.

The problem is and always was that these stores are not in the midst of the Wrexham town center, then as already mentioned a couple of times on another thread there is the parking issue !!

Prestatyn’s new shopping outlet is in the center of the town and is free parking and right next to the bus and train stations, of which is ideal for the older people who do not drive, and despite a previous post stating it was quiet I was there yesterday and it seemed quite busy to me…:)

Wrexham over the last 20 to 30 years seem to have got everything wrong:eek::eek:

Many towns the size of Wrexham would be delighted to welcome Debenhams, M&S and Next into their midst. With Click and Collect all ranges are available and returns can be made in store, as shoppers we have never had it so good ! No need to travel to Chester or Cheshire Oaks it’s here on our doorstep.

WHAT,,, you are joking of course :D
