Whilst not really knowing who runs this forum, is it the council or ?

If not do council officials read what is on here because some of the topics are quite disturbing as to what goes on in the corridors of power within Wrexham Council …:eek:

These closures are just another couple of more nails in the coffin of Wrexham, but this is not a recent thing as the powers to be have for many, many years made poor decisions and chose wrong priorities on behalf of genuine Wrexham people I like to call them. for e.g. city status, Glyndwr University, the destruction of Wrexhams heritage as a town etc. etc.

House prices in the surrounding villages tend to be cheaper, for example Coedpoeth, Llay, Caergwrle, Johnstown etc. where as in the town along with the Gresford, Marford, Rossett areas properties are more expensive, thats not to say they are necessarily better places to live..

Wow! I think someone has anger issues!

To be fair there are some cyclists who do give the rest of us a poor image but there are lots of vehicle drivers who could do with a few lessons in good road manners too. PS I pay Vehicle Emissions Duty on 2 vehicles, my bike doesn’t emit any pollution so would be zero-rated anyway, I do pay insurance and I respect other road users and abide by the law. I certainly wouldn’t advocate any cyclist trying to cause damage to another road user.

Back on topic – anyone else think that Wrexham would be a good hub for cycling or other sports?

There are cycle lanes in Wrexham, admittedly not all joined up but how many cyclists use them? I get the impression they would rather ride 2 or three abreast on the road..

Have not been a member of this message board for long, but already I can see topics very quickly turn into slanging matches if someone has a different opinion from someone else’s view.

Happy New Year To Everyone … :)

Best: Wrexham at Wembley in March. Oh and Alun Hughes record shop thriving from what I understand, nice to see…:)

Worst: Wrexhams Councils inability to manage Wrexham, you would think most of them don’t even live in the area, perhaps they don’t.! (PS this does not include some Councillors who I know are committed to doing the best for the town)

Just to add to my previous post, if your saying that’s its as simple as a car running at say 2000rpm vs a car in the same gear running at 1900rpm uses less fuel they their is another problem with the statement of saving fuel.

On a 10 mile journey, travelling at a constant 30mph it takes 20min, if you were saving fuel and driving at a constant 27mph the journey would take 22min 12 seconds so the fuel you have saved driving slower will have all been wasted again with your car engine running for 2min 12 seconds longer.

The real purpose of starting this thread was regarding the government twisting statistics to say that speed kills, lets put in another way…. If I was stupid enough to cross the road without checking it was clear, I would rather do it on a 40mph road with a driver travelling towards me paying attention to the road conditions and road ahead and probably be able to stop or slow down in time to minimise an impact rather than doing the same thing in a 20mph zone with someone texting on their phone or not paying attention for some other reason and hitting me at 20mph.

Point being its not the speed its the inappropriate speed or poor driving that kills!

    Drive safe everyone over Christmas!!

You save fuel by not continually keeping your foot down and razing (is that a word !!) through every gear to get to the desired speed, whether it is 20 mph 30 40 70 or whatever, this is a proven fact.

But with regards to cameras, etc. as I have already said I don’t believe in them being used to make revenue, but my question was how do you curb inappropriate speed shall I say, which I still say causes accidents and deaths far more than drink driving has ever done, and that is another unpublicized fact…. I don’t have the answer by the way …
