johnhoppyParticipant
Wrexham.com should be congratulated on the level of pre, during and post election coverage you all deserve an award for getting issues in front of the public and the use of media.
Candidates in next years Welsh Government elections really need to take a leaf out of your coverage if they want to reach the mass electorate and get them engaged enough to vote for them.
I agree, excellent coverage of the election by Wrexham.com. It is unfortunate that our elected representative refused to be interviewed by the media following the result. which I thought was disrespectful to the electorate.
johnhoppyParticipant
So, you got your post. What’s the problem ?
Not a problem…..just as well I didn’t wait in for it !
johnhoppyParticipant
Was it a Postie or a good neighbour dropping in a misposted item
Definately a Postie……red hi viz and bag.
johnhoppyParticipantNot to do with the forum but with the web site. When I tried to fill in the voting survey it would not work at all on Google Chrome. All ok on Internet Explorer.
johnhoppyParticipantThe Highways Agency or the councils could not care less about Chester Races or anyone else. I recall a few years ago major road works were carried out in Saltney which lasted about 6 months. They began on the day before a Chester Race meeting started !!
johnhoppyParticipant
Wrexham Council have beaten us to the query on this by emailing requesting a change! For completeness as some read the forums as well as the articles it is below:
This morning (Wednesday 22nd) Wrexham Council have clarified the data released alongside the voting registration stats to say “The population figures quoted in yesterday’s email for both Parliamentary seats include children who are under 18 and cannot vote as well as people who are not commonwealth citizens but are residents in the areas of both seats.”
Wrexham Council have requested: “There is a fear that the more people read this article the more will attempt to re-register and cause severe disruption with our electoral services.
“Could you please remove or amend the article to reflect that the population figures also included under 18’s and non-commonwealth citizens as both categories will be unable to vote in the upcoming election.”
Back to Moggsie’s point, it appears the number was irrelevant and no idea why it was given out!
I’m sorry but this is still confusing and inaccurate. Citizens of the Irish Republic are entitled to vote in United Kingdom elections, and they are not members of the Commonwealth. It is understandable that Wrexham CBC wish to clarify matters, but they should do so properly.
johnhoppyParticipantThere is no point in Milliband visiting Wrexham because he knows what the result is going to be, and there is no point in Cameron visiting Wrexham because he knows what the result is going to be.
Only a weighing machine required for the vote counting.
johnhoppyParticipant
OMG! Wrexham Sheep!
If you are so fed up of queuing, stop bleating and stop using the A483 car park ! Try a different route, get a map, sat-nav, google maps – you know its there, avoid it!
ARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!
One little problem with this theory is that loads of other people have the same idea, and in all probability you will end up in a different queue of traffic.
johnhoppyParticipantI may be naive but I would have thought that council officials are obliged to be politically neutral, just in the way civil servants are. Governments (and councils) come and go but the civil service remains intact. We are not like the USA where they elect everyone from the President to the Dog Catcher. The Civil Service and Council Officials should give advice to the best of their expertise and not be influenced by the demands of their political masters.
johnhoppyParticipantUpdate: That was short lived. The 4G coverage seems to have disappeared…Coverage is fine but its not 4G !!
