That is all well and good if you are reasonably fit and healthy, however the elderly and disabled would find that to be a problem.

The idiot driver depends on other motorists driving in a considerate, careful and rational manner. The theory falls down however when the idiot meets another idiot.

When the councillors were elected the ‘job description’ stated that most meetings would take place in the evenings. Now, half way through their elected terms the goal posts have moved. A bit unfair on working councillors.

I would agree with Transportuser that there is no excuse for buses running early. I have looked at the timetables for this route and I notice that the 5 servicce from Llangollen to Wrexham is timed to pass Ruabon at 1914, so I presume that he would not have missed this bus. GHA have two service buses running within 3 minutes of each other along virtually the same route, and whilst I would not justify the actions of the guy driving from Barmouth at the end of a probably very long shift to push for home I can understand it, and he was not leaving passengers stranded.

I don’t worry about the harsh comments asteve76. There seems to be a small number of posters on here determined to trivialise matters. This is an internet forum and as such we all must be prepared to have differing views thrown back at us, but a few are trying to turn it into comedy playhouse. Thank you for your support.

The object of webcasting Council meetings was to show local democracy in action. In fact it has shown local dictatorship in action. ‘Procedures’ are used to restrict proper debate (as was evident last night) and dissenting voices do not have the opportunity to put alternative views forward.

The new format of the Executive Board has been introduced part way through the electoral calendar which makes it look even more like a power grab by the ruling group.

I don’t know if I’ll bother looking at any more Council webcasts.

[quote quote=94309]There is a point that is being overlooked which shows the total lack of input from all Council Members — what is the point of having a “Customers, Performance, Resources and Governance Scrutiny Committee” if they are not used to debate the revised makeup report going to Council tomorrow. Why have Councilors not had the opportunity to debate such a fundamental change in the governance arrangement.
This is turning into a farce and Cr Jones should give serious consideration as to reporting this process to the Standards Committee and more crucially the Local Government Ombudsman.
The Executive in the future may as well declare that everything in future should be Part 2 private and confidential.

I am aware that Cllr Jones has a meeting on Tuesday (next Tuesday presumably) with the Internal Audit Team regarding this matter. The webcast of tomorrows Council Meeting should be interesting.

When I was running a pub it would have been very nice to receive a subsidy of £3k a month. Whilst the sentiment of community run enterprises are admirable, and in stand alone (e.g. in a village) situations they can may be justified, in a town with many other similar outlets it is really unfair competition. In small pubs the owner/landlord and family do much of the work themselves, but in the case of the Saith Seren all workers have to be paid a competitive wage which vastly increases overheads.
