This is likely to be only a small pat of a much bigger development – the Council are developing the Crown Buildings — how much of the space behind this building will also come onto the market as a single plot. The old residential home, Cunliffe Centre all coming down..
the church also have an empty building so this could become a big plot– it might even take in the old printers on Rhosddu road. It will leave St James with houses in three sides..

I realise everyone has a choice but crazy that people are not getting a vaccination when it is clear from the data that nearly all those in hospital now with Covid are people who have not had a vaccination or only single dose.

Two issues here — the the £30k represents the amount the Council pay on top of the salary for the Chief Exec at approx 22% of gross pay – staff on the lower grades only get approx 12% pension from the Council.

The real question should be value for money – a person can only work a certain number of hours on a week – the CW will be paid £72 an hour for 37 hour week approx 5 times the amount staff get paid that deliver Council services – social care, teachers, refuse etc. The CE only has about 8 Chief Officers reporting to him so not many people to deal with – it does mean he has 7 people to push things off his desk to and those 8 have other service mangers to push onto, who then push down the ranks tio the staff that really count those that engage with the public – the front facing workers.

Also remember during the years of an Election as he is the Returning Officer nice bonus on top.

MD had actually stated he would step down as First Minster during the next term of the Welsh Government so in theory he has 4 years and 11 months to go!
Seriously though he will likely guide Wales through to a point when Covid is not the top priority before stepping down..

It looks like Ms Atherton’s statement has many elements that may have been written 12 months ago – Housing – inaccurate numbers of empty properties
    – Car parking issues — perhaps some people need to go up the road from Island Green to Specsavers — if people read the condition of charges they should not then complain
    – Covid 19 Roadmap – this is a cheap shot for any politician regarding the difference in Wales and England- she implies that everything in Wales has been wrong even when Boris has adjusted his views to those of Mark Drakford.
    – Ms Atherton needs to do a reality check-in with what is happening across Wrexham
    – Will Ms Atherton meet with Lesley Griffiths now that there is a new term of office – both politicians need to bury the hatchet — and get on with things for the benefit of all Wrexham residents.

We also have another Wrexhamite in the Senedd – Jane Dodd’s Leader of the Wales LibDems hails from Wrexham – her mum Marjorie Dykins was very prominent with voluntary organisations in Wrexham and her dad senior Court usher for many years

Jane was probably one of the shortest serving MPs having been elected in a By Election only then to lose the seat at the General Election about six months later.

She now has the potential of being seat number 31 for Labour to get the majority they need in the Senedd

Looks like many of the potential voters have let the country down — a total of less than 50% turnout across Wales. This means that no matter which party the Assembly Members come from they will take up their seats with less than 27$ of the electorate in their area having voted for them. My far the largest number of voters are actually the non voters- what a waste of having a democratic process if so many people cant be bothered to vote. Most of the non voters will be the ones in 5 years saying the Welsh Government hasn’t done anything.

Lets hope more people are motivated in next 12 months to be ready for the Local Council elections- there is a real need for a change on the Council .

Hi here is the definitive detail of the election and why you have two votes — one for the constituency you live in and one for the Regional List – so technically you have more than one representative in the Senedd- one from where yiu live and 5 Regional ones covering North Wales.

    https://senedd.wales/how-we-work/elections-and-voting/senedd-elections/

Yiu need to ask the Regional List Members – current and any new ones standing what have they done or will do for Wrexham

Hope this helps but don’t forget yiu will also have a vote for the Police and Crime Commissioner on the same day.

Iona really good summary of the issues. The point over leaving the EU is a massive issue for the free flow of workforce. Considering training for Drs is 6 – 10 years we are heading for a massive skills shortage if many of our EU Health workers decide to go back to home countries. This is a massive void that will see far more pressures on our Health Service than what we have seen during Covid. There are 1000’s of people who owe their lives to all of the international health care workers that have looked after them at a time when they were staring death in the face.

There have been lots of plans drawn up about what Wrexham could look like and what shops we want to see but I have yet to see any decent research from the perspective of the public – the people who actually spend money.
It is all very well the Council coming up with designs, branding and all the other frills but a town is only as good as the people who frequent it. Whilst talking about consultations what discussion have the Council had about their latest brand concept ideas or even the mysterious Civic Leaders Group – who is on the group representing businesses, is the Town centre Forum represented.
As the owner of a property in the town centre no one has asked me what would ensure my property always has occupancy.
Lots of this feels like we are expected to go on a train journey with with 1st, 2nd 3rd class seating and a cattle truck- most key people have not even been invited to get a ticket to get on board and not even arrived at the station. Others may have have had an invite but don’t know the destination so are on the platform. Not sure at this stage who the engine drivers are are – Ian Bancroft, Mark Pritchard or Ken Skates- they seem to be laying the track but don’t have the same destination as those who could be passengers.
Come on Council start giving the tickets out so more people can join the journey
