JaneJParticipantDid anyone pick up on the snippet about Councilors ‘pensions’ not being part of the scheme being discussed. Did anyone know that they had a pension entitlement?
Interesting Councilors say they are not employed so dont get a salery but only an allowance — then we hear that they are also entitled to a Pension!
JaneJParticipantOn the issue of mergers politically how could Clr Rogers and his group possibly support a proposition from the Labour led Welsh Government now they have left the Party. Basic politics says the ‘opposition’ will always remain opposed to any proposal no matter how good a proposal may be.

JaneJParticipantIt is surprising that such a statement can be made by Clr Rogers without consultation with the electorate and without all facts being in the Public Domain. At least Scotland’s people had a vote on their future — we should not underestimate the importance of possibly joining with Flintshire. I would like the Lead Member on Partnerships Hugh Jones to set out a case why there should not be a merger – all the pros and cons and also the same from a Flintshire perspective. Lets start looking at facts and not just have statements that have come from meetings behind closed doors.. Clr Jones has asked for transparency and ideas on the budget then why can he not arrange not the same for the merger.
JaneJParticipantThis was only created recently and like many surveys often get plagued with spam– I hope these first few don’t put people off and they take part in the survey.
JaneJParticipantRemember it is often not a lifestyle choice to be a substance abuser but one that is caused through other issues for the individual. Cleaning a street is only a cover up to what really should be done which is appropriate help and support from Social Care, Health and Families.
Unfortunately many of the people you see around town have at sometime served in the armed forces and seen active service- should we cast these people on one side when they have served the country.
JaneJParticipantMost of the background information to the dismissal of Clr Malclm King due to allegation about the CAFAT team have been released under an FOI in redacted form.
It is very comprehensive document and readers need to take it all in context. It does however not really clear up why Clr King was sacked for raising concerns.
JaneJParticipantClearly from the comments from Clr Rogers there is a massive difference in personalities and ‘performance’. If it was a performance issue why has it taken nearly a week for this to come from Cr Rogers– at no time was that mentioned at the time of the sacking of Clr King the only reference was to the issues over the ‘Independent Report’.
NO matter who anytime thinks is right in this situation the Electorate deserve honest , factual and above all FULL reports on issues not the selective drip feeding that seems to come from all parties.
We are supposedly in a state of financial crisis and there is a big risk that all this internal party politicking will detract from the real issues.
With so much in fighting it may be best if the Welsh Government bring in the Commissioners the same as they did in Anglesey Council to deal with politicians and interim management of what can clearly be seen as a failing Authority. -
