DerekJacksonParticipantCouncilor X – basic economics income must equal expenditure, for many years this has not been the case. The Council have mismanaged for a number of years as show with penalty notices issued by the Charity Commission due to not submitting accounts – sometimes by as much as three years over due. Lack of investment and engagement with the broader community to set up Trustees. At present although a Charity the Council is the sole Trustee. This is an iconic site that means so much for military veterans and their families and should be preserved at all costs.
DerekJacksonParticipantWrexhamuser – I’ll be the first to support your views. Wrexham does not have the hotel capacity for large events and people will stay out of the area as they will want large capacity or use team coaches etc with sleeping facilities. Events like cycling we are 2/3 years aways from being able to cater large scale which is a pity as many of the smaller eating establishments could have benefitted. It also seem extraordinary that a Council has to pay to have a multimillion pound event. Many of the team sponsors have income far in excess of the Council. Should the organisers not be paying Wrexham.
Same with the football the investment the dynamic duo have put in the club was not dependent on the Gateway project- what direct benefit will this have for the residents of Wrexham vs having the money put into schools or social care?
DerekJacksonParticipantThe danger is a short term cut generated a longer term cost – look at the cleaning of drains – cut back on this and the next heavy rain is floods everywhere the cost more to sort than the drain savings in the first place.
Why do they still have Clywedog, Rhosnessni Maelor, St Josephs, Grango, Ruabon and Darland when they could get rid of two schools due to the number of spare spaces across Secondary Schools.
The Council do not mange Section 106 funding from developers often never collecting the funds or just leaving in their accounts so it is not used for intended purpose.

DerekJacksonParticipantAsk Cllr Hugh Jones about the WiFi system paid for but never delivered linked to CCTV.
DerekJacksonParticipantThe problem is that the sludge gulper only sucks out mainly the debris in a vertical position – the sideway pipes need to be high pressure blasted until there is free flowing water – in some places it could be about an hour per manhole not the 15min that seems to occur – I wonder if the workers are not allocated enough time per drain to do a proper job.
DerekJacksonParticipantHow would a Welsh Government funded reporter report on the totally disastrous performance from Mark Drakeford and Vaughan Gethin at the Covid Inquiry. They actually admitted what many people have been saying for the past 3 years the Welsh Government was totally unprepared for a pandemic despite various planning and strategic opportunities to pre plan.
Will our own MSs – Lesley Griffiths and Ken Skates now admit the Labour Party Government were not fit for purpose during the pandemic.
What will Labour spin Doctors do to try and recover an undefendable position.
DerekJacksonParticipantOne of the only thing that would act as a lever would be if all the companies running the actual shops complained to the landlord with a threat to leave (if they could find a cluse in their lease agreement). Why would the car park company engage with politicians or the Council it is a private service on private land. If the machines are charging incorrectly then a consumer has the right to refuse payment, make an offer to the company to pay the actual amount and then wait. They cant take a someone who has not paid their fixed penalty if issued for an incorrect amount- force them into court claim.
DerekJacksonParticipantThanks for clarity and further info- fingers crossed it works out
DerekJacksonParticipantReading the article the £800m is for Tram Trains which we don’t have in North Wales- so what is the North Wales investment? and When are new rolling stick coming for the region?
