I went today and I too thought it was great value, we will be going again, the place is never going to win any Michelin stars, but it is a better restaurant than the Sleepy Panda, a restaurant that has degraded so much over the years, even the takeaways have better food than them now and don’t even mention the ridiculously poor customer service.

What I really don’t understand though, how on earth is the Slowboat, on Ruabon Rd, still in business? Honestly, that is the worst tasting food I have ever had, which is a shame because it is walking distance from me.

agree about the Slowboat, last time I went there I ordered egg fried rice and it came in a polythene bag

I think the last thing I had in a polythene bag was a goldfish!

Slowboat used to be best in Wrexham, but sank without trace.

My husband and I went to The Real China today for a late lunch around 2pm.
We have always loved Chinese food (for about 40 years) and consider ourselves pretty good judges of good and bad. Afraid we have to totally agree with Docksboy. Whilst the surroundings are impressive the food in general is awful. Both soups on offer were absolutely tasteless, the prawn toast was dangerous, bit into it to find it was still frozen, and again the main courses were tasteless and the beef was tough! Not an enjoyable experience, don’t go here if you are a Chinese meal lovers ,worst we have ever tasted. Yes we did complain which is something we would normally not do and the manager was very charming and apologetic and gave a 20% discount. We will not be returning. Even our local takeaway is far superior. Sorry Real Chinna we so wanted you to exceed our expectations but you left us completely disappointed!

The second time we went it wasn’t too nice either, everything was massively over cooked, which like you say, makes it chewy and bland.

We are not going again now either, not with how low the standards must be internally, decent places just wouldn’t serve junk like that

For balance, I’d like to add that we went one lunchtime last week and it was lovely. Plenty of choice, cooked to perfection, staff surveying the food on the buffet, very impressed.

Seems we were lucky. I’d certainly “risk it” again though! :-)
