i know what i am having for my tea tonight then, steak burger, thanks for the heads up. I use this butcher a lot and he is great, plus free parking in the multi-storey, only a 2 minute walk.

Other butcher i use is Jones Bros on Mold road, get a BBQ pack with chinese spice rub, lovely, you can park right outside, really convenient, they do all sorts of stuff, even haggis for you scottish types!

I’ve not used the one on the Mold road, but my mates tell me it’s great meat from there. Maybe when I’m passing one day I’ll pop in.

Stick to Williams for now, 5 star, I have just checked Jones Bros and they have got a 2 star rating back in January, I know the owner and am very disappointed with him now, i shall be having a word

Blimey, that’s not good. Surely it doesn’t cost much these days to be clean and hygienic. That’s very disappointing for someone dealing with food.

Ah! But what if I’m feeling reckless….only joking. Decision made, I shall look elsewhere.

I also use the butcher on King Street without a problem but did not know they got the low rating too. It looks alright though. It might sound controversial but the star rating system must have its own limit – getting a 5 star does not mean you wont get food poisoning (even a top restaurant like Fat Duck had that once) and buying from a lower rating meat butcher or restaurant may still be ok.

But, this is the important bit, surely they will take the food hygiene matter seriously to get customers back.

Did anyone contact them about their explanation?

You may be right, but I’m not taking the chance.

Your example has got nothing to do with what we are discussing though, we are talking about food hygiene ratings, the Fat Duck incident happened at a time of a national outbreak, with contaminated food at source.

Why would you take a gamble, it is potential risk to life, the system is in place to monitor and enforce hygiene standards with the main goal being to reduce food poisoning and foodborne diseases., the outcome appears bleak to me if the establishment has no regard for this.

If you were to contract me to fit a boiler, what would you rather, an install that might leak gas and carbon monoxide into the premises (0 rating) or an install to the best of my ability, upto the highest standards of current building regulations (5 rating) it’s a no brainer.

Food establishments have a duty of care to the public, this is a legal obligation, if there internal standards have fallen so low to get a 0 or 1 rating, which should never happen, then they really don’t deserve to be in business, much less have trusting customers handing over hard earned money and why should they, there are 5 star butchers a short walk away, with awards aplenty

What could they possibly say? we stopped caring about our internal hygiene standards :(

Called in Nandos for lunch today. Glad to day it’s rating is 5 and it’s shown by the entrance. I am glad somewhere I use is good!
