There is a Archaeological dig going on in the fields at present. Lots of large trenches being dug up. Lots of activity !
They seem to have mapped out large areas and are working in the trenches this morning.
We know that the Caravan Park across from the fields was once a Cadw site as being part of some sort of Hill Fort( Y Gaer Earthworks) but it seems is no longer part of Cadw.

Makes you wonder what they are looking for.
Clwyd Powys Archeological Society were on the land a couple of weeks ago, so maybe they found something then.

There was mention of a Roman road at one time, possibly being The Straight Mile, but we have been unable to find anything.

The Leader – News from Wrexham & Flintshire – Thousands of new homes on way in Wrexham?

Presume they are going to build a new hospital, new schools, new Doctors Surgeries, and generally a complete new infrastructure to go with them all.

Then snap their fingers and conjure up about 100 new doctors and nurses

If you snap your fingers, you would need A&E.

Ultimately, that’s exactly what will have to happen and what will indeed happen.
Wrexham Council, along with every other council in Britain will have a growth plan already in place.

They will be watching and waiting to see where the requirement lies, central and Welsh government will have, and will make funds available when the need is identified.
    It’s an evolutionary process.

That’s not been the case in other areas so far Sheefag, where my parents live (North Wales but not Wrexham) they recently built a housing estate (fairly large but nothing like the size of the one proposed for Llay) in an area with an already over subscribed primary school. You can imagine what has happened, people who have bought these homes feel their children should be automatically given places at this school, while long standing residents feel they should have priority (as they lived there before these additional homes were built). Clearly the trick would have been to extend this school BEFORE this estate was built but that never happened (it still hasn’t happened BTW, parents are having to transport their children to schools in other areas).

Children have always had to travel to School, this is nothing new.
It’s not clever to build local facilities based upon mere projections, these decisions have to be based upon hard demand.
I trust and assume that all of those who unfortunately couldn’t get a place in their School of choice, are in education within a five or six mile radius of home?

The reality is “They will close the door after the horse has bolted”, and it will be up the local residents already living in the area to fight their corner for all local facilities. WBC are already millions in the red and cutting just about service they can, do you really think that they will have the funds to do what we all think they should do. I don’t think so.
There is a major problem encouraging doctors to come to Wales, they cannot simply ignore that fact if they do decide to build new GP surgeries etc.
In my family alone, my mum is waiting for a new knee and has been told it will be 12 – 18 months on the waiting list. A work college has been waiting for a Urology appointment for over a year and has just been given an appointment in Bangor !

We cannot simply ignore what will surely affect each and every one of us living in Wrexham.

I wonder if you are a working parent Sheefag. It is OK for people to sneer at school runs done
by stressed parents trying to juggle working life with home life. 5-6 miles is too far unless it is by choice. Free school transport is almost now a thing of the past.
