I understand the Dobshill area was also nose to tail this morning “Monday”.
Yes, I was stuck in traffic this morning. Cars were backed up through Hope all the way to the equestrian centre!
Pinky02ParticipantJust to point out the sheer scale of this development. If you live in Llay, this proposed development will be larger than ALL of the houses built on the Legion side of Llay New Road. This includes council properties and private houses put together!
Llay just doesn’t have the infrastructure to cope with such a large scale development, no matter who builds them!
Pinky02ParticipantWhat some people don’t know is that there are already plans to build 65 houses on the site currently being used by the Llay Legion. There are also plans to build 27 houses on the old infant school site.
If this development goes ahead that will mean Llay will have 459 new houses in the near future! So for arguments sake lets say each house has 1 child, this equates to an extra 1,377 residents!
This will mean an increase of 27% in Llay’s population. Far too big an increase for ANY village to cope with, no matter where it is!

In any event as soon as I saw your message,I contacted his Office to make him aware of the matter.
I am sure he is already aware as the matter has been in the local press for the last 9 months!
Pinky02ParticipantIt was a good turn out tonight. Not one person thought this development was a good idea.
Can anyone tell me what ‘amenities and facilities would be strengthened by an increase in the local population’?
The one thing that did worry me was the notice stating that the land proposed for development is mostly Grade 3b agricultural land. I know policy
PS2 states agricultural land grades 1,2 or 3a should not be lost so I am wondering if this is a way around this particular issue? Is there any way to get this grade checked?
Pinky02ParticipantHe was also very vocal when Wrexham Council tried for planning permission on green land at Acton, Rhosnesni and Bradley in 2010!
The Leader – News from Wrexham & Flintshire – War of words over green belt plan bids in Wrexham
Maybe he ‘forgot’ planning was a devolved issue then? Or maybe there are other reasons?
Either way he obviously doesn’t care enough about Llay to voice the concerns of residents.
Pinky02ParticipantAs long as it looks good on paper, it seems Wrexham council are happy. They do not care about the impact on existing residents or communities.
It is laughable when the council state as one of the purposes of the constitution is to support the active involvement of citizens in the process of local authority decision-making!
Llay community council were not even informed of Wrexham Councils decision to GIVE Hayward’s field away. They tried very quietly it seems to get this through. The council put a tiny piece in the leader stating its intention and if it wasn’t for a local resident spotting it and putting a poster on the field, the land would have been disposed of without any residents knowing.
A joke!
Pinky02ParticipantSorry it should have read over 2,000 Llay residents!
Pinky02ParticipantI would say the chances are that a large percentage of the inmates will be drug/drink dependant and many will have mental health issues.
Pinky02ParticipantYes Saxon1. The petition was signed by 2,188 residents ( a few were people who have ties in Llay and visit regularly, but definitely over 2,00 Llay residents). When we contacted Ian Lucas to ask for his support he told us that planning was a devolved issue and therefore he couldn’t get involved.
Oh well there is an election coming up, and I know who I won’t be voting for! -
