Yes I think we need to read up on all these issues so that we are armed with the detail.
I have emailed Lesley Griffith and Ian Lucas to ask for their opinion on the proposed site, so I’m hoping that they might be able to clarify certain things. Thanks for all the information.
The Save Hayward’s field group contacted Ian Lucas, who quite frankly didn’t want to know. He wasn’t interested that over 2,100 residents of the village did not want to lose this green open space. Lesley Griffiths on the other hand was extremely helpful and asked questions on our behalf that were being ignored by the officers in Wrexham Council’s housing department.

The councillor in question was on the planning committee tonight and even though the application was concerning the Wrexham to Llay New Road, he never voiced an opinion once. What chance have got of him raising his voice if the proposed development reaches the planning stage while he is still a councillor.
Not much chance I fear going from previous experience!
Pinky02ParticipantCouncillor Boland is a genuinely nice man, who will at least listen to residents!
Pinky02ParticipantThanks for sharing your knowledge 99DylanJones

Planning Permission Refused at Rhosrobin.
Lets hope Llay have the same outcome when it comes in front of the Planning Committee.
Lets hope our local Councillors support us like in Rhosrobin.
Don’t bank on it!
One of Llay’s county councillors bent over backwards trying to get the development on Hayward’s field. He wouldn’t even stay in the same room as us when we were voicing our concerns at the consultation meeting. If Wrexham Council want it believe me he will support it as well!
It was a good job we had Councillor Boland who stood up for us.
Pinky02ParticipantDoes the alternate site need to be within the same village or just within Wrexham county Borough, if it isn’t within the development?
Pinky02ParticipantYes, people do need to live somewhere. If you go to Wrexham you will see endless buildings boarded up. Why not convert these to apartments? It seems that building on green fields is an easy option these days.
Pinky02ParticipantYour welcome Saxon1.
The fight to keep Hayward’s field has led me to lots of information I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Hopefully this will help in our fight to keep Llay as a village and not a mini town! I live in Llay and also feel that this development is far too big for the village to cope with. I will also be attending the meeting and will be voicing my concerns.
Pinky02ParticipantThis development contradicts Wrexham Councils planning policies,
Policy EC2 Development on agricultural land of grades 1, 2 or 3a will only be permitted if it does not lead to the irreversible loss of that land.
Policy PS1 New development for housing, employment, and community services will be directed to within defined settlement limits/employment areas. This development is outside the settlement area.
Policy PS2 Development must not materially detrimentally affect countryside, landscape/townscape character, open space, or the quality of the natural environment. This development will affect all of the above.
Pinky02ParticipantThanks for the information 99DylanJones. Hopefully now It has been pointed out to Wrexham council that Llay has a large deficit of public open space, the disposal of Hayward’s field will not be heard of again.
What is annoying is that there is a brownfield site just up the road that could be used instead!
The housing was to be funded partly by the Welsh Assembly Government and Wales and West, so no cost to Wrexham Council.
Is it right that developers need to build so many affordable homes depending on the size of the development? This could be why there are some flats and low cost homes within the proposed development on Gresford road. -
