A former city centre building society could soon be turned into a new coffee shop.

An application has been submitted to Wrexham Council proposing a change of use for 1-2 High Street.

The ground floor of the building was previously home to Nationwide.

Although planning permission to turn the upper floors of the High Street property into flats have been approved, the ground floor has been vacant since the former tenants relocated to a larger city centre premises.

Under the new plans it has been proposed that the building is converted into a new coffee shop and cafe.

According to the application the cafe would have 22 seats inside and ‘desserts, various pastries, hotdogs and waffles would be prepared on site’.

It adds that ‘consumption of hot drinks and food will be both on-site and out’.

Interior changes only are proposed with a shop sign fitted to the exterior.

The application will be considered for approval by Wrexham Council at a later date.
