The reason they made the issue was that they had been in a confined space with no escape and in the same problem as other people rather than a Constituency Office where you might get a 10 minute appointment (if lucky). The lack of escape meant they had first hand earache (unless you happen to be a Senedd Member who travels First Class on the early morning ‘Express’ and keep away from the ordinary people).
It would be sad but if any of them had to experience A and E personally or for a family member then the urgent Senedd questions would be asked.
Non of the opposition parties or ruling Labour have an instant solution for issues in A and E and Ambulance services – it is not about pouring more and more money when it is impossible to recruit staff- we have a whole Health Service problem linked to Council run Social Care – it is impossible to conjour up staff with the right expertise as there is a national shortage. All due to a lack of investment in training and making Health and Social care a profession that people wanted to work in.

The ‘overspend’ has been the same for the past few years – surly all necessary cuts have been made and any overspend now really implies that the budget is too low in the first place. With an increasing demand for children and young people needing support any cuts now will only create more costly support later.
By calling it an overspend is putting undue pressure on the managers in Childrens services who are trying to do the best with a reduced resource. Childrens services are also under scrutiny from Care Inspectorate Wales due to failing areas.

Just been prompted by Wrerxham.com article on the Rossett Planning Application being passed and residents looking to challenge the decision. If it had been turned down as a large-scale development which equals large scale profit they would have appealed to Cardiff , won and then the applicant claims costs.

How much money have the Council had to pay out repaying Planning Application Appeal costs in the past few years. Never a week seems to go by without some appeal being granted. and costs having to be paid.

MPs are supposed to represent their constituency — how can they do that without reaching out to local residents to find out their views on what is happening with Borris. They should be asking not only Conservative supporters but the broader public.

Start asking or are they afraid of the negative responses on the doorstep and the threat of not getting a promotion from Borris as others around them are publicly withdrawing their support for Borris

Change the town names and this report could have been written about Wrexham — even the comments look the same as Wrexham.com threads–

It is a pity that the remit of Sue Grey’s remit has only included Downing St and Government Buildings as I am sure a number of MPs will be relived. Every MP (all Political Parties should be asked if they held any parties in their constituencies in the past 2 year.

Also at a local level did Senior staff (and Members of the Executive) in the Council having ‘leaving do’s’ for the Chief Officers that left last year.

Perhaps Wrexham.com should ask the Council how did they mark the leaving of Chief Officers?

There is a fundamental issue about the method that the Council are using and intend to use which is counting at a specific location – they do not know where the hot or cold spots are which determines where the best places are to open a business in town. Total numbers at particular the two measurement points only need to be looked at very closely.

Where the counters are and the increase could be because things in that are have changed –
Hope Street — a new church has opened up so many of the increases on the counter will be attendees.
High Street – the same impact from people visiting St Giles – they have had a very successful Angels festival that has attracted 1000’s – unfortunately they have had an increase also in the number if funerals that will also have generated footfall.

National organisations such as McDonalds and supermarkets will have far more accurate data which they use before considering opening a new location using other digital information such as mobile phone movements.

Footfall usage has always been questionable- ask any of the businesses who went into Ty Pawb with totally unfounded footfall projects.

Yet again Wrexham businesses shoot themselves in the foot as they are so unorganised and disjointed. They cant say they didn’t know about the meeting this week as the diary and forward work programme is published months in advance – they should be keeping an eye on things themselves.

It seems the Council are now operating the same as a school due to have an Estyn Inspection – last minute work ‘preparing’ for the Inspectors and the Council are doing the same now they have been shortlisted for City of Culture. In both cases there should not be any need to do ‘extras’ to sort things out as everything should be of high standard in the first place.

It is unbelievable if the Council think the City of Culture bid is just based on a submission to judges – if they speak to previous successful Councils from the past they will find out that ‘mystery shoppers/visitors’ had been around the area almost as soon as an are is shortlisted to see how much of a submission is ‘normal’ Cultural activity and how much is ‘new gloss’ just for a bid.

JP – you have created a good summary that many people will no doubt relate too. Perhaps a few more points could be-
Glyndwr sell more land for development of their nice new shiny building but fail to attract students turn to online courses in other Universities.
Bus services are cut as less people come into Wrexham Town. The busiest buses are those going out to Chester full of pensioners using their free bus pass.
Charity shops desert the town as they don’t have any customers looking for bargains.
Wetherspoons introduce Breakfast deals for the under 18s going to school as the ‘regulars’ can no longer get a bus into town.
Council Contact Centre closes due to lack of people coming into town.
Buskers desert the streets as no longer worth their while playing in Wrexham so move to Llangollen- richer pickings.
Who knows someone may be able to find some good news.

Let us hope that the election in May bring a change to the current establishment of Rag , Tag and Bobtail!! The current mix of disguised Conservative masquerading as Independents. Lets hope the new Political Party that are looking to recruit in all Wards across the County will bring new blood and a unified approach to planning for services for the next 5 years with a level of accountability to residents.
