Some North Wales Senedd Members have been asking urgent questions in the Senedd Chamber, the problem , they encountered a long train journey. Now perhaps they will have some empathy with those who spend hours in the back of an ambulance to get into an A&E department and then face hours to see a doctor, and many more hours before actually getting a hospital bed. It’s not unusual these day for it to take 24 hours. Where are their urgent questions on this subject? It’s not new , it’s being going on for years and yet ONE , inconvenient train journey provokes this reaction. If they don’t understand the problem perhaps they should stay in North Wales next week and spend their time inside and outside our hospitals A&E . Maybe then we would see urgent questions in the Senedd on a subject that affects us all , including them if they are ill.

The reason they made the issue was that they had been in a confined space with no escape and in the same problem as other people rather than a Constituency Office where you might get a 10 minute appointment (if lucky). The lack of escape meant they had first hand earache (unless you happen to be a Senedd Member who travels First Class on the early morning ‘Express’ and keep away from the ordinary people).
It would be sad but if any of them had to experience A and E personally or for a family member then the urgent Senedd questions would be asked.
Non of the opposition parties or ruling Labour have an instant solution for issues in A and E and Ambulance services – it is not about pouring more and more money when it is impossible to recruit staff- we have a whole Health Service problem linked to Council run Social Care – it is impossible to conjour up staff with the right expertise as there is a national shortage. All due to a lack of investment in training and making Health and Social care a profession that people wanted to work in.

Bed blocking has always been part of the problem , as it has a knock on effect for A&E. Money also plays a part, Councils only pay a fixed sum per hour for social care and per week for care homes, far below the cost charged to “self funded” clients who subsidise others. There are some others who are able to fully fund themselves but remain in hospital because it’s free. Social Care is a mess and neither the Conservative nor the Labour Party have a clue how to sort it out. Being trapped on a train doesn’t kill you but waiting for an ambulance might! All our elected representatives just bury their heads in the sand and carry on as of nothing is wrong,

It’s easy for parties in opposition to bash any Government but politicians at both Local Council and Government level forget that they are in their postion first and foremost because the public voted them in to do the best for them and the area they live in. If the opposition have wonderful solutions to Health, Social Care, Rail or any issue they should be duty bound to put the solutions on the table – I can’t see any opposition having constructive dialogue so they act on behalf of the whole population rather than just acting in a negative way because they are the opposition.

Another terrible case , 10 hours wait , outside lying on a pavement at the age of 69, waiting for an ambulance in Colwyn Bay this time! Almost a daily occurrence now.
