DerekJacksonParticipantLooks like the Council are progressing on other projects as well- this has appered on the Sell2wakles site this evening
https://www.sell2wales.gov.wales/search/show/Search_View.aspx?id=JAN322271The creation of a BID appears to be something that will request more money from all the businesses in Wrexham- not sure how this will go down as most are demanding a reduction in their rates to reduce their overheads.
DerekJacksonParticipantEverhard- what a brilliant contribution you have made to this thread
DerekJacksonParticipantDefo = Too much mulled wine!!
Try again- Give our young people a voice that is not blocked
DerekJacksonParticipantI bet the Education Department wont allow the Senedd yr Ifan (Young Peioples forum) in Wrexham to ask any questions of the Educatuion Leads in Wrexham. The Senedd yr Ifan in the past has been restricted from any debate on Council cuts affecting them – £500k of a £750k budget but YP views not taken into account.
Gove our Young Peole a proper voice that is b;pcked

DerekJacksonParticipantI’ll give the repair until the middle of February at the latest before it starts to crumble – earlier if we get frost like today – from the picture it appears that the edge binding is not solid and will be a leading edge for crumbling.
The camber to the edge will create a water puddle that when frozen will be very dangerous –
You only need to see the workmanship on road repairs in King Street to realise that it is so poor that the bottom end has an built in speed rumble strip of about 5 mph- this stretch has been done on average twice a year since the bus station was built — why can’t the Council get the job done once first time around. The cost for pothole filling is 2- 3 times more than it should be due to repeat work.
DerekJacksonParticipantThe Health increase is due to the Barnet formula settlement for Wales- Westminster can make all the noise about how much they will spend on Health – the decision on how much of the settlement goes on Health in Wales is totally dependent on the Cardiff based Welsh Government.
In Wales they are trying to align Health and Social Care to create a seamless system – something that is years away with Local Authorities and Health all blaming each other and Welsh Government giving funds that are very short term to fix a problem that needs long term commitment. The North South split of funding is based significantly on population – this is often a nonsense as the cost to run a 20 bed hospital ward in Wrexham would be the same as in Cardiff (give or take a few slight variations) yet on paper Wrexham will get less because the population is less.
As far as the trains are concerned – in Wrexham we will be reasonably well service if you are in Ruabon, Chirk, Gabowen you will be worse off as the way they have speeded up journey times is to remove certain stations.
I wonder what out two new MPs will do to rebalance the Barnet Formula on which so much depends on for funding in Wales..
DerekJacksonParticipantWe may have a democartic process in thsi country but why did 30% of those eligible to vote not take up the opportunity- Yes fully accept that the Cinservative won a landslide with current elction process but only achieved 33% of the total of those that could have voted.
We should be asking is it time to make vorting compulsory or is that undemocratic- or should national elections be the same as we have in Wales – constituancy AMs then regional based on proportional representation. With so much now being decided regionally would this not be better.
Should we also start to think of joimg all Health Servuces tigather again and have a true National Health Service as neith England or Wales have sorted out the services they manage.
DerekJacksonParticipantThe one key element about a failing health service that is often overlooked is that all of us have an expectation that health services are available on demand the same as turning the tap on for a drink. The Health Service has many entry points and people unfortunately don’t understand the differences and expect to walk into a GP surgery or ED and be seen immediately when all that is needed is a trip to Tesco for a 25p packet of Paracetamol.
Until people start triaging themselves at home or work to determine the severity and urgency of need for medical intervention or where there is a solution that does not require a GP or Hospital.
When this starts happening the numbers and lengths of waiting lists will reduce. If the numbers accessing the services there would be a real chance for medical staff to take back some level of control of the services within health and start to build up training and staff recruitment to meet current and future realistic demand rather than trying to climb a bigger and bigger hill of people waiting to be seen.
This is not about party political electioneering to determine who runs the service but mire about the general public taking a responsibility for their actions which are inappropriate.
If the demand was less, then it would reduce any risk of Private Health services as their profit opportunities would be reduced.
DerekJacksonParticipantIf there are not a lot of specialit Doctors to teat me I am happey enough to travle to see a Doctor who is a specialsit and knows what they are doing. Yes it may be ideal to have them locally but if there are not enough specialists then you have to tarvel if you want the best.
