“slagging off” yes you got that right and only because as a singer in a rock band i know how much things cost first hand first off the equpiment, a small pa is around £500,(you could hire one for about £60 but!! ) then to pay for a room to practice in is about £15 a session, to learn a set of say 1hr of songs take a good band around 10 sessions, oh then you have the cost of guitars drums amps etc oh and then you have to get there !!!!!!!!! mmmmmm yes we do it for the love of music but we do ask in return a few quid to pay towards the cost of fuel and a pint or pop I dont think thats too much to ask for DO YOU ???
what is your job and would you do it ??????????????You have to speculate to accumulate. There could be a band out there that have not much experience, this gives them a chance of playing in a nice place with a good chance of exposure and more work out of it.
DarlofanParticipantWonder which council will be first to change durations?
Cost for 50 mins then 50 mins to 1 hour 50 mins etc.
DarlofanParticipantBye Maureen😉
DarlofanParticipantJust a thought but they blame the weather for delays to works. Now we have had some wet and windy weather but I don’t think enough to put it back 2 months. They’d be lucky to stretch a 3 week delay because of weather. Let’s hope we don’t get the March snow that commonly happens or those temp lights will still be there at Xmas!

The Highways Agency obviously do not care how much chaos and inconvenience is caused. Anyone with access to the AA/Google Maps/Radio Wales/Radio Merseyside/ Wrexham.com knew perfectly well that something had gone radically wrong at that junction today, and yet they needed to be advised by the Police of the problem…Really??!!
Unfortunately the Highways Agency are not alone in their inertia to keep traffic moving. In the event of an accident the police have no qualms about closing major roads for hours on end. I appreciate that it is necessary to find out the cause of accidents, but with the modern technology available today (digital cameras, laser measuring devices etc) it is doubtful that it is necessary to keep roads closed for as long as they do. Don’t get me started on the subject of councils closing off lanes for miles to cut the grass (coming to a road near us soon).
Is it that they all don’t care?
Totally agree about silly lane closures. I was thinking the same earlier today on the A55 coming up the Rhuallt hill. On the left is the stone (mini) cliffs where they cut the road out of. On that cliff there was 3or4 guys on ropes inspecting/working on the cliff edges. Now they were 20-30ft up in the air and metres behind the safety barrier yet some bright spark decided the inside lane needed coning off from the bottom of the hill to the top. Absolutely no need as the guys were climbing from the top not the bottom and in the unfortunate event of one falling he’d still be behind the barrier and well away from the road.

To help settle this and avoid a huge debate, petrol pumps only allow a ‘minimum’ purchase to be dispensed. It can vary and will be on a sign on the pump, have a look next time you’re filling up!
Most of them are 2 litres. He has a point though. When filling with fuel I would assume most if not all look at the price not the amount being dispensed. In theory if you looked at the dispensing total it should be impossible to put in 2 litres as this would be 8 tenths of fuel. The pumps must dispense to a round number on the price not amount of fuel.
DarlofanParticipantSo you can’t drive in there but you can walk right through the place? I’d say you’d be safer driving in than walking. If it’s safety of postmen it would be interesting to know how many were knocked over to force the change. As said most of the day the car park is virtually empty.
DarlofanParticipantLooking forward to Mrs Crewe’s reply!
DarlofanParticipantIt will be easy to police. Soon a company will come up with cameras that will be clear enough to photograph car interiors as you drive past(I believe trials have already taken place but not sure where). As soon as police realise they can make serious money using these they will be everywhere to catch mobile phone users, smokers, readers, shavers etc. Until money can be made police won’t be too bothered.

Sorry Mr ‘financially savvy’ I forgot you are perfect in every way, of course nothing like that would ever happen to somebody like you:confused:
You don’t have to be “perfect in every way” to avoid cash in hand tradesmen. I’m in a fortunate position that I’m quite proficient at diy so most work I will do myself. If I need tradesmen it is usually for larger jobs.
