A special exhibition celebrating iconic ‘legends’ such as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman has launched at the Wrexham Museum.

The exhibition coincides with the Year of Legends in Wales and will feature comic book creations and television icons – all of which have a Wrexham link to them!

Wrexham Museum has teamed up with local artist, Neil Edwards, who works as an illustrator for DC Comics, Marvel Comics and Titan Comics producing the initial pencil drawings for their superhero comic books that are sold across the United States and in Britain.

The exhibition, which will run until January 2018, will feature Neil’s pencil drawings of those well-known comic strip superheroes Superman, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Wonder Woman.

Alongside these world famous fictional characters, Neil has also given a ‘superhero’ makeover to a well-known local individual, Brymbo Man. The first drawing of Wrexham’s very own superhero will appear in the exhibition.

Speaking about the exhibition, Neil Edwards said “The staff at Wrexham Museum, knowing my work as an illustrator for comic books, asked me if I could help them stage an exhibition to mark Wales’s Year of Legends. It’s great to see some of my drawings on show in my home town.

“This is my first exhibition in Wrexham. Thanks to everyone at DC, Marvel and Titan Comics for supporting the exhibition and waving any copyright fees.”

The exhibition opens on Saturday, 24th June 2017 and runs until January 27th 2018. Admission is free. For more information, call 01978 297 460 or like / follow Wrexham Museums on Facebook.
