A caring group of students from the University of Chester are showing some love for a local children’s hospice charity this Valentine’s.

The group of four are hosting a fun scavenger hunt around the Roman city over the week 9 – 16 February in which participants will explore the streets and heritage whilst searching out special Hope House hearts hidden in the windows of independent stores.

The team of second year students have set-up Troop Events as part of their Events Management and Marketing courses and will be donating entry fees to Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices.

Run via the Goosechase app, the event promises to be a great way to explore the city, support a good cause and even win some prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

Speaking for the group, Courtney Harris of Prestatyn, said: “I’ve had a family connection with hospices, so when setting up this event for our coursework, we knew we wanted to support Hope House and Tŷ Gobaith.

“We’re running the event over a week so people can complete it at their leisure.

“Local businesses such as Breakout Room, Deva Roman Experience, Cozy Club and Snugburys have all been very generous in donating prizes for our scavengers.”

During the family and pet-friendly event, participants will be sent clues to find 14 special Hope House hearts secreted around the city.

Carlotta Villa, Team Leader of Troop Events, said: “We are looking forward to raising money for Hope House Tŷ Gobaith children’s hospices, whose mission is so vital.

“We are really excited to host the Valentine’s hunt in Chester city centre and are hoping to generate a lively and buzzing atmosphere.”

Chester area fundraiser Nicola Eyes, said: “We are thrilled that the team from the University of Chester is creating this event and raising money to support local seriously ill children who attend our hospices.

“I know first-hand how difficult organising this type of event is and the effort and attention to detail has been incredible.

“I hope the community get behind them and support their Valentine’s trail around the city centre.”

The scavenger hunt is taking place between 10.30am and 7.30pm each day and interested parties can sign up for just £5 via the Troop Events website or Eventbrite.
