Clwyd South MP praises 1st Overton Cubs group and volunteers
The MP for Clwyd South has praised the work of a local scout group and its team of volunteers.
Simon Baynes MP recently met with the 1st Overton Cubs Group during their weekly meeting on Thursday to find out more about what they do and how youngsters can get involved.
The 1st Overton Cubs is open to boys and girls between the ages of eight and ten-and-a-half.
They meet each Thursday evening at the Overton Scout Hut in Overton-on-Dee between 6.30pm and 8pm.
During his visit to the Cubs group, Mr Baynes discussed his life and work as the local Member of Parliament before taking questions from the group on a variety of topics.
Mr Baynes, speaking after meeting the group, said: “It was a great pleasure to visit the 1st Overton Cubs to discuss my life and work as the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South.
“I was exceptionally impressed with the excellent questions asked by the Cubs.
“I wish to thank their Cub Section Lead Volunteer Mark Sayer for inviting me and it was great to meet Erin Sayer, Lowri Hughes and David Huyton, who also help with the 27 Cubs – we owe so much to these volunteers for their care and leadership of the Cubs.
“What a happy and inspiring evening it was!”
