Reminder issued on face covering rules indoors ‘and the bus station is no exception’

Members of the travelling public are reminded that the wearing of face coverings is mandatory indoors which includes when waiting for a bus at Wrexham bus station.

A recent visit by Wrexham Council “showed that many were not following this guidance which is disappointing”.

As a result the council issued a reminder that the pandemic is not over and ‘every day we keep our eye on the Delta variant which risks our long term goal of returning to normal’.

Cllr Hugh Jones, who is heading up Wrexham Council’s Covid-19 response, said: “Public transport is essential for many people and has remained running throughout the pandemic. It has ensured key workers can get to their work safely and continues to play a huge part in our recovery from the pandemic.

“But we are not out of the woods yet, the Delta variant is a concern and studies suggest it is far more transmissible than other variants. Please bear this in mind when at the bus station which will help us continue to ensure we remain on the road to recovery and wear a facemask when required to do so.”

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Transport and Environment, said: “Wrexham bus station is extremely busy and we all need to remain vigilant to the threat posed by variants. It’s mandatory to wear a facemask or face covering indoors and the bus station is no exception.”

“Please remain vigilant when travelling and follow all the guidance that is there for you and your communities protection.”
