Proposals To Convert Vacant Pub Into Housing
A vacant public house in Summerhill could be converted into housing if a planning application is successful.
The disused Black Horse Inn, on Top Road in Summerhill would be partially demolished and converted / altered to form three residential dwellings.
It is proposed that the front of the building is demolished, which would make way for bin storage and also parking.
Each house would consist of two bedrooms along with four parking spaces for the properties.
The building itself is described in the application as having a black and white ‘half-timbered’ finish and over the past few years the property has been subject to occasional vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
Within an accompanying Design and Access Statement it notes: “The proposal will enable the owner to enhance the appearance of the remaining building and the area and to provide three small dwellings and thus benefit the local community through brining the building back to full repair and beneficial use.”
In 2012 a similar application to turn the property into residential property was lodged, however was refused in September of the same year.
An unsuccessful appeal in March 2013 was also refused.
However the present application states that notices were sent out to three previous objectors of the application, with one reply stating they would prefer the entire building was demolished.
The application will go before the Wrexham Planning Committee at a later date.
