Public Health Wales have reported four new cases associated with the outbreak connected to a food factory in Wrexham.

On the non-outbreak specific daily update there were five cases announced on the day-on-day stats for Wrexham, out of a total of seventeen for Wales.

Although not officially confirmed it appears the Outbreak Control Team is still meeting every three days in response to the Wrexham outbreak. On that schedule a meeting took place yesterday, with a statement today via Public Health Wales.

Dr Giri Shankar, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “The outbreak associated with the workforce at the Rowan Foods plant in Wrexham remains active, although the number of reported cases has slowed down considerably.

“As of 15 July, the total number of positive cases associated with this outbreak is 309, which is a small increase of four since Friday 10 July.

“There is no evidence that these infections were acquired either onsite or that the infection is factory-based.”
