The prison service is holding a final open day for people who want to apply for the current prison officer vacancies in the new North Wales Prison.

Applications for prison officers will close on January 15th and successful candidates will be working alongside experienced officers when the prison opens in 2017.

There will also be further recruitment opportunities in 2016 and 2017 and those candidates will join the prison after it opens.

The next open day will be on Friday, January 8 at Shirehall, Abbey Foregate in Shrewsbury from 11am to 7pm and visitors can drop in at any point. There will be five presentations about the vision and values of the prison at noon, 1.30pm, 3pm 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

There will be an opportunity to speak to existing prison officers, get help with your online application and speak to representatives of the Betsi Cadwaldr University Health Board about working in healthcare in the prison.
