Around 02:30am this morning another car was alight in Caia Park. Gareth Parry told us “Car on fire on the field at back on St. Annes School, Police and Fire engine at scene”.

When Wrexham.com visited the area around 10am the car itself couldnt be seen however tracks across a field through a broken fence led to burnt ground. Around the burnt area, pictured above, a smouldering smell lingered.

There were tracks across the field.

It also appeared the car had driven through a fence causing damage.

Five days ago a small truck was set alight close by:

Several other vehicle arsons have occurred in a similar area, prompting one resident to voice his concerns this week to us saying “It is becoming a regular thing and almost predictable”.

Over the past few weeks Police and Fire services have been out and about (story here) to raise awareness on how to prevent vehicle theft and arson. We saw a few PCSO’s outside Tesco in the town earlier this week leafleting to raise awareness.

We also placed Freedom of Information requests to find out the figures up to the start of August – full details here – but by then 32 car arson attacks had taken place. We also found out there was 91 over 2011.
