At around 5.20pm a serious multi vehicle collison involving 8 cars occured on the southbound a483 Wrexham bypass as it goes up the hill to the Gresford roundabout just before the railway bridge. Chris Myers sent Wrexham.com the above picture of the scene of the incident.

All traffic was stopped, several police , fire and ambulances attended. Traffic was being diverted off the a483 at Rossett.

The back road through Gresford was congested, with tailbacks towards Colliers Park , likewise Gresford roundabout where people are rejoining the a483 is going slow.

This is the latest in a string of stories we have had to run regarding safety and crashes on the a483, no sooner had we written about an aquaplaning hotspot yesterday there was a multi vehicle crash, close to where todays incident has occurred. Just over a week ago we reported on the lorry collision going up Gresford hill, and a month ago two cars including a police car collided on the slip road onto the a483 at the Gresford roundabout.

Traffic through Gresford is calmer, however there were tailbacks on the a483 to Doddleston Lane bridge, and its was very slow moving.

6:45pm: Cars are being let through slowly from the accident scene, and the vehicles involved are being taken away on low loaders. We are told there are no serious injuries, however cutting equipment was used to free people.
