One of the main slip roads onto the A483 has been closed this afternoon after a car was run off the road in a collision with a police car.

The crash between a white Suzuki and a North Wales Police squad car took place shortly after 1.20pm on the slip road just off the Gresford roundabout heading towards Wrexham town centre.

An ambulance, six police cars and the police helicopter all rushed to the scene where the Suzuki had come off the road completely and nearly hit a wall which surrounds nearby flats.

Both drivers were taken to Wrexham Maelor Hospital with minor injuries.

Traffic was delayed for several hours after the collision as the scene was cleared.

North Wales Police said they will be investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Wrexham.com was alerted to the situation by @Davies_WxM who sent in the above picture of the incident.

Andy Snowden (@thesnowdens) also witnessed the crash, he said: “just seen it, looks nasty with one car down a ditch!!”

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: “A collision involving two vehicles took place at junction 6 of the A483 at Gresford. Minor injuries were sustained in the incident involving a Suzuki and a police car.”
