I think Benjamin nails it there. Right on.

He seems to think he can judge people and then divide them into groups of good and bad people, without knowing anything about their difficult circumstances.

It’s a common ruse to hand-pick some bad anecdotes and use them to tar a whole group, but it’s not accurate nor fair.

Keeping people locked up doesn’t fix the problem and is a lot more expensive.

They should be redeveloping brownfield sites, but it’s a lot cheaper to clear/prepare green belt land. But that’s capitalism for you.

Outpatient appointments are still running, Jane, so I guess that would be difficult to police. The NHS shouldn’t have to baby sit irresponsible people.

Yes, addiction is an illness that has a powerful influence on thought processes; it usually takes a lot of time and effort to break. Besides, with some substances, especially alcohol, suddenly stopping is dangerous.

Sometimes, you’ll get senior people proclaiming that they’ve offered addicts ‘help,’ without mentioning that this ‘help’ has a lot of strings attached. People who are higher up maslow’s hierarchy of needs often don’t fully empathise with those at the bottom.

You mean apart from the small matter of prohibition in America, Benjamin? That’s a precedent loaded with fact.

Few disputes are black and white, but I find Wrex-IT’s argument more persuasive this time.

My worry is that people are drinking more due to virus anxiety, cabin fever etc and doctors and nurses will already be very busy dealing with the results of Covid and flu. The last thing hospitals need is an influx of people who’ve had too much to drink.

Um, no, Benjamin, try to focus – victims of crime are not to blame for crime.

I read somewhere that the precautions we’re taking to prevent Covid spread have cut the rate of ‘ordinary’ flu deaths by a lot, so if true, that’s one small blessing, I suppose.

Perhaps you should have kept that thought to yourself.

Maybe she was on her way to Conwy castle to check her eyesight?
