Where did the £500k figure come from? Why does it have referred to as “the rumoured £500k”. Either it’s true or it isn’t but no point in getting all hot ‘n bothered about it until its confrmed (or not). Just saying.

I imagine the counters will read zero once the parking charge increases come into effect. An excellent investment :).

Point of order there Liam. Wouldn’t the signs only say zero if the car park is full? And thanks to the signs I now know that the Welsh for full is Llawn. So they are at least educational, albeit in a limited way.

There are details of wrexham spending on http://www.taith.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Taith_16_Wrexham-Transport-Accessibility-Strategy.doc

It seems to indicate the total cost is £535,000 for the signs !

The above link has the 500k figure in the Taith budget doc. Seems pretty solid.

Taith is not Wrexham Council btw.

Unless the signs will state how many spaces are left they are a waste of money. It smacks of a department desperately trying to spend its budget before next years figure is set.

Waterworld car park says full but can see a handful of spaces just from the main road. So the signs will either force people away from car parks where there are in fact spaces or, more likely, people will just learn to ignore them.

Imagine what £500,000 worth of new Christmas lights could have done for the local economy over this and the next 10 Christmases?

I try very hard to give the council a break but then they go and out-stupid themselves..

What do you expect from the people who built a new shopping street (eaagles meadow) while there are loads of empty shops in the town centre.

Just drove past St Georges Crescent car park. The sign said “full”, however there were at least 20 free spaces, (in a car park that can’t have many more than 100 or so parking spots). That is woefully inaccurate information and totally useless.

Today the signs read just OPEN for Eagles Meadow as opposed to spaces/ full and The People’s Market is CLOSED.

When I was in work the other night, there were about 10 cars parked in St Georges crescent and the sign said full. But anyway, why do people keep on criticising the council for wasting money on the signs when it’s taith funded, not council funded?
