Can someone explain who Taith are and where their money comes from?

There are details of wrexham spending on http://www.taith.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Taith_16_Wrexham-Transport-Accessibility-Strategy.doc

It seems to indicate the total cost is £535,000 for the signs !

Those figures could really do with clarifying as if they’re accurate then that’s crazy. Taith funded or not it wouldn’t look great if this kind of money is being spent on electronic signs while the county is facing unprecedented levels of cuts with parking prices increasing. I suspect (or hope) the amount spent on these signs might be less, but it would be interesting to know how much exactly.

£535,000 for that total waste of time, and the council have the damn cheek to threaten cuts to vital services

“Taith is the joint board of the six county authorities in North Wales working together to deliver substantial and significant improvements to public transport across the region.
Taith has established a comprehensive Transport Strategy to take the region’s public transport forward in the years ahead. The Welsh Assembly Government is providing funds for the investment”

I don’t see where Live Parking Signs fit into Taith’s stated aim above.

A considerable amount of funding seems to be allocated to local authorities which is ‘ring fenced’ to be spent on specific projects such as the development in King Street and now these car park signs. In times of plenty this might be seen to be desirable, but in times such as now when councils are cutting back on front line services the expenditure is scandalous.

No matter from where the funds come from it is money that is raised from taxation, and I am sure that the average taxpayer would like to see their money better spent.

Why are the Council run signs advertising Eagles Meadow Car Parks when they are dearer than the Council car parks?

Looks like the project was agreed back in 2010/11 and funding of £250,000 2013/14 and a further £250,000 2014/15. Wonder if we will see extra signs next year or perhaps the second tranche will be for the electronic element.

Completely agree, if money is tight it looks wrong to soend £1.8m on creating Wrexham’s answer to 50 Shades of Grey and £500k to see how empty our car parks will be because of price increases.
