Has anyone else noticed that a lot of paperwork still has Clwyd as part of the address. The Halifax for one.

The Mayor raises the profile of many smallish volunteer groups and charities. Volunteer groups work very hard for little reward. When the Mayor & Mayoress attend an event complete with chains of office it makes the hard work feel worthwhile & appreciated. Would you want the Mayor of Wrexham to show up in an old banger or on a bike? Number plates, robes, cars etc have already been purchased in years gone by, not by the present administration, and should be used or worn with pride.

We could also add a heritage Pub trail. No new pubs unless located in old buildings. If they have been a change of usage that;s allowed too as long as you can get a cold drink alcoholic or not. ;-)

Should Waterworld be listed as a 60 year old iconic structure?

“It is also proposed that Waterworld is closed and demolished, and replaced with a new £11.9m centre, as and when funds are available”. Quote wxm.com

Apart from a town trail we could have industrial links to the Mines Rescue Station, Bersham Colliery, Dennis Brickworks, Bersham Ironworks, Bersham Schoolroom, Brymbo Steelworks, Minera Lead Lines, Glyn Valley Tramway, Llangollen Railway etc, The heritage parks such as Acton Park, Bellevue, Bonc yr Hafod, Ponciau Banks, Alyn Waters, Nant Mill, Ty Mawr etc. A War Memorial trail, A famous person trail could be linked in with the others. Give all of them their full historical links. Wilkinson, Dennis, Kyrke, Lowe etc. I didn’t that Oliver Cromwell’s brother in law lived in Wrexham. Hafod y Bwlch, Erddig, Chirk Castle, Roseneath. etc. Telford did it with Ironbridge & a passport scheme.

Perhaps we could promote the town centre as Old Town, Wrexham. Keep the big multinationals out & keep the town centre for the locals with minimum rent & rates. I was in the bus station the other day & made the mistake of sitting down. Talk about bum freeze. No signs up to tell you where to catch your bus either.

It does seem strange that all the bad drivers appear to have an accident at the same spot. Perhaps the timing on the lights is just a little out. Or should there be a filter fitted? It is a busy road junction after all.

What does listing mean exactly though? Who has to make decisions with reference to these buildings? The town planners? There are one or two of these buildings that are being allowed to fall into disrepair. Water damage is a big problem. It seems to me that some of them are left until there is no option but to demolish as with the old Vegetable Market. In my opinion not enough care is taken with our heritage.
