Not to mention the national patient database project shelved after £11.4 billion was spent!

Because they tend to work for incompetent managers who wouldn’t last five minutes in private industry. I left after saving them a fortune over a number of years and then got a 25% paycut with more workload as a thank you. If you could have seen the things I did you would have revolted!

It must be difficult for a Local Authority employee to have pride in anything they way they are treated.

The grass is so tall coming out of Crispin Lane that you can hardly see cars coming from under the bridge by Remploy!

Aren’t double yellows no parking for anyone at all? Surely the highway code says you can’t park on double yellow lines and there isn’t any places really around Gobowen Hospital where you can park that isn’t an obstruction on double yellows. I’ve been going there for 27 years and my mum has never had an issue parking, not even in the disabled bays.

In England and Wales a Blue Badge holder ‘can park on single or double yellow lines for up to three hours, unless there is a ban on loading or unloading, at ‘on-street’ parking meters and pay-and-display machines for free and for as long as they need to in disabled parking bays’. Source direct.gov.uk Though local authorities do make charges in pay and display car parks in some areas.

Gobowen is privately owned so no ‘fine’ would stand up in court. They are busy with building works and closing old car parks, but the car was not parked where it would cause an obstruction.

I’ve never seen any problems and have been around that area very often. A very unfair piece of research delivered out of context.

Maybe we should all start using public transport while we still have it because before long, half the buses will be taken off and no one will be able to get anywhere.

Using public transport is too expensive! In the current financial climate people won’t pay £1.70 to travel from places like Gresford to town, and then have to pay the same to get home. Most people using public transport these days hold free passes or don’t drive. Maybe the supermarkets should approach the local authority to try and get this improved rather than spend their money employing private companies that use underhand tactics.

Not everyone can complete their shopping in 2 hours. Tesco’s raised their parking limit from 2 hours to 3 hours some years ago after protests from disabled shoppers. The signs were updated with a bodged sticker covering the 2 to 3. I’m not sure how they look now?

My father in law is a blue badge holder and recently got a ticket in Gobowen Hospital while he was attending an appointment. He was unable to find a disabled bay so parked on double yellows. This is allowed for badge holders- provided they are not causing a obstruction. He was given a ticket by another private company. He paid it before telling us or I would have advised him to bin it.

I remember doing my work on this when in primary school. I can’t find it on there now though. It was put onto big laser discs (like CD’s but about 20 inches wide and quarter inch thick!) some are still around.

He did say free Wi-Fi zone and not a Wi-Fi free zone didn’t he?
