A popular and well-known clothing store in Wrexham Town Centre is to close for the second time.

The Peacocks store, located in Regent Street is set to close its doors for the final time – with the store currently holding a 50% off closing down sale.

When Wrexham.com visited the shop on Saturday afternoon, much of the stock had already been cleared.

A sign in the window of the shop notes that the nearest Peacocks to Wrexham will now be in Mold.

This will be the second time the Wrexham Peacocks store has closed, with the company entering into administration back in 2012. Although the company was quickly saved by Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Wrexham’s branch was confirmed by administrators as one of the 224 that would close.

However just eighteen months after its closure, in August 2013 Peacocks confirmed the Wrexham branch would reopen.

The closure of Peacocks will come as a second blow to Wrexham Town Centre, with Bhs earlier this month confirming that they would be closing 163 stores nationwide.

In more positive news for Regent Street, earlier this month saw women’s fashion store ‘Select’ take up tenancy in the former Blue Inc unit – creating several new jobs for Wrexham.
