Well I have just seen the photos and videos of the gathering outside the hospital last night, I am utterly gobsmacked. How many people were there? Not much social distancing and NHS staff outside in their scrubs. Would not take much for the virus to get in and out of the hospital. Sorry, I have every respect for the doctors and nurses dealing with this virus but, Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board, you need to nip this in the bud now.

It would be far better for people who want to show their appreciation to upload videos and photos of them doing what they did to show their appreciation in their own homes, onto social media, I would think Wrexham.com would be more than happy to post them.

    Do you mean this roundabout?

And you are suggesting that drivers approaching from Wrexham on the A534 and taking the Industrial Estate Road are wrong to use the left-hand lane?

I hope you have good insurance on your car!

Yes that is roundabout. Firstly, yes thank you I do have have good insurance on my car and never had a claim in 30 years. Now back to the map:-

    From Wrexham, in my opinion:-

1st Exit “Borras Hall Lane” = Classed As Left Turn = Left Lane

2nd Exit “Wrexham Road” = Classed As Straight On = Left Lane

3rd Exit “Industrial Estate Road” = Classed As Right Turn = Right Lane

4th Exit “Sandy Lane” = Classed As Right Turn = Right Lane

5th Exit “A534 Back to Wrexham” = Classed As Right Turn = Right Lane

How far around a roundabout would you say you have to travel before it is classed as a right turn ??

If the 3rd exit above and the 3rd exit on the Asda roundabout towards Tesco are not classed as right turns, then I am at a loss.

The road heading towards Asda from the “Chester Road” end is called Powell Road. The turning for Tesco off Powell Road roundabout is definitely a right hand turn. Left is the school, straight ahead is Asda and right is Tesco and Police station.

I was taught that when approaching a roundabout a turning off after the 12 o’clock position is to be taken using the right hand lane UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED BY ROAD MARKINGS. Such road markings are not on this roundabout, therefore, the right hand lane should be used.

Using a left hand lane to go all the way around a roundabout does not make any sense anyway. To me it is dangerous – vehicles in the right hand lane will want to turn off somewhere on the roundabout !!

I really do not know where this culture of using the left hand lane to turn right on a roundabout has come from. It seems to be getting worse. The roundabout on the new link road where the turnings for Holt and Wrexham Industrial Estate are is another prime example. I have been forced many a time to keep in the outside lane onto the Industrial Estate road by drivers insisting on coming around in the left lane, then they are moaning because I am keeping them in the left hand lane because I don’t have the acceleration – YOUR PROBLEM – YOU FORCED ME INTO THIS LANE.

Maybe if there are any traffic police and/or driving instructors reading this topic they would like to let us know the correct procedures for these roundabouts – then we will all know who is right and who is wrong. If I am wrong then I will change my 30 year driving habit of using the right hand lane to turn right on a roundabout.

    Hi

Well I gave it a try today at 5pm. Did have a queue to get onto the JCB roundabout (approx 8 mins to reach it) but then once on the new dual carriageway I kept going. So the new road does work once you are on it. :)

    Hi

Does anyone use the JCB end of the Wrexham Industrial Estate to get off the estate at 5pm please ? I was wondering if the new link road has made it any better. At the moment I am using the Cefn Road to get off the estate but it would be better for me if I could use the JCB end but only if the traffic congestion has been relieved.

    Many thanks

Getting to work is now a really smooth job. A few people just don’t know which lane to get in. The council should really put down white arrows on approach to roundabouts or a get in lane sign or two.

Totally agree. This is needed before there is an accident. I used the North Access this morning and used the right hand lane to go around the roundabout towards the Industrial Estate. A car followed me all the way around in the LEFT hand lane and nearly hit the rear end of my car when I turned onto the road for the Industrial Estate.

I know that driver was clearly in the wrong (Highway Code states you do not use the left hand lane of a roundabout to turn right and it is also common sense) but I am afraid these days some drivers do need “idiot” signs to help them along.

Also I feel road markings and/or signs are needed on the exit of the Industrial Estate using the South Access too. With a double roundabout there no one seems to know if they should be in the left hand lane first and then, after negotiating the first roundabout, move into the right hand lane for the turning for Cefn Road or be in the right hand lane and go straight over and keep in the right hand lane.

I feel if the council would just sort these signs out then the new access road will be a good thing. It is certainly faster getting onto the estate in the mornings !! :)
