Saxon1ParticipantRegarding the Evening Leader article. The developers were informed last night during the meeting by a representative from the school that the school is full, that also Gresford school is also full and one local person told us her child has to go to Marford School.
The representative from the school was extremely concerned to say the least. The petition will be available for signing at a specified location to be confirmed, if you did not get around to signing last night. Keep checking the blog.
Saxon1ParticipantWrexham Leader have printed an article on line re last nights meeting.
Saxon1ParticipantI know we are in for a fight, but we cannot just simply sit back and let it happen.
I am trying to learn very quickly what Planning Policy etc is all about. I have never been in local government so I am afraid its all alien to me, but with help from lots of people in our support group I think I am going to learn very quickly. From the turn out last night, we have major support locally and we are going to try and make it count. We will not give up the fight and our right to freedom of speech as residents of the Wrexham borough.
Saxon1ParticipantSurely then a common sense approach is required by local planning. They simply cannot justify tearing up swathes of green space in order to appease Welsh Planning policy, when there is no appetite for this type of development or any need in the first place. Its complete madness and causing upset and disquiet in our communities. A new mindset needs to be taken locally and involve local people at all levels and not just a chosen few.
Saxon1ParticipantJust a few facts to note to dispel the fact that there is a desperate shortage of housing in the Wrexham area as declared.
Stats taken from Right Move this morning:
880 + houses currently for sale within Wrexham and 3 miles out of Wrexham. For cut off considerations we put Under £200,00, so these figures do not include any houses over £200,00 and is only estate agents on Right Move, and does not include large developments going on in the area where large numbers of houses are for sale but are not on Right Move.
But you can look on Right Move to put variants on the price brackets, we just used up to £200,00 for our research.
Interesting !
Saxon1ParticipantFantastic turn out at the meeting tonight. Full house from 4.00pm.
Hugh support from all the Llay residents and we would like to thank everybody for coming along to show support.
Keep watching the blog for further developments.
Saxon1ParticipantIm really glad that you have this information as this has been a big point that really needs to be challenged as well as space at the local doctors surgery.
Existing people living in Llay have to have a voice as nobody wants to be in a position of fighting for school places, or doctors appointments, its just totally unfair.
Saxon1ParticipantPlease everybody who is against this massive development come down to llay british legion to voice your concerns and sign the petition.
Between 4.00 and 7.00pm tonight.
Saxon1ParticipantWho actually wants to live in a concrete metropolis. Presume lots of people in favour of this development or people involved in actually building the development won’t be affected and live in their homes in the open countryside, surrounded by their own green belt so that nobody can build and spoil their view, and subsequently become very wealthy on the back of it.
Most people assume Green Belt land as “countryside”, green space, not all of us know the true meaning unless you work in local authority etc. But as most us don’t.
The World Health Organisation quote that if we don’t do something about sustained food growth on our own shores “higher food prices are the ultimate sign that demand for food is outstripping supply, and put simply there is not enough food to go around” So as Zinger says why is growing food not given the same priority.
Saxon1ParticipantAh thats great thanks for the information.
It all helps. Maybe see you on Thursday.
Cheers -
