I still believe that the largest issue with this election is to do with why the majority of voters feel so disengaged with either party politics, issues of concern or indeed their own future.
Next year sees Westminster elections which will be fought on issues closer to home which is not UKIPs normal hunting ground with limited policy statements.
The year after is Welsh Government and then year after local elections.–
I believe one of the reasons why so many Independents get in at local government level is that people have started to vote for a person rather than political party.
Look out over the next 18 months for people starting to gain a voice on local issues as they will no doubt be looking to secure a seat on the Council.
One other point which is being overlooked is that we no longer have a single political party route from Local Government through to Europe- there is a mix and match of alliances at each level leading to more and more behind closed door meetings to get sufficient support for any relevant policy.Still think the main parties will deride UKIP at their peril come the general election next year…;);) but I have to say I don’t think they will now, but they definitely need a new tact:(
MP1953ParticipantYes correct they have found popular policies, but they are policies that the majority of the people who have just voted find relevant to the way they are thinking, UKIP are saying things that may not always deemed to be politically correct, but they are obviously hitting a chord with ordinary people.
Of course they now have to come up with a manifesto for the general election, and I suspect that some of them may ruffle a few feathers again, but again perhaps they maybe common sense policies that again will resonate with the public !! ;)
MP1953ParticipantDavid Cameron has now said he gets it ! I doubt it, the press, the media, the establishment have all had goes at discrediting UKIP calling them racists or whatever else they can come up with etc.
But the fact is as one or two more have said on here, they have failed, and they have failed because Nigel Farage is saying out loud what a big majority of the country think especially on immigration and Europe that the other parties will not address, of course there are other major things in governing a country, but the two main parties have got one big problem to address when a party with no MP’s in parliament tops the polls in a national election.

Must be a nightmare that. You’ve carefully considered where to buy a house, you sign the contract, move in and suddenly find out there’s a school next door. Bummer.
Ummmmmmmm, when a lot of people bought their houses, and you don’t have to go back that far parents actually (I know it sounds far fetched!) used to walk their children to school, I can remember Box Lane being virtually car free…

Not sure if you know, but the Wrexham School Run Rally is staged each and every school day morning. This unfortunate to enter event takes place around the closed roads of Wrexham – well I say closed roads because the school run entrants – mainly female with the ‘odd’ taxi driver thrown in – assume the roads are closed and any unfortunate non-runner is fair game. Specialist cars are used in this event – you do not require indicators, mirrors, accelarators, brakes etc etc…you are of course required to wear blinkers, head phones and in most cases pj’s! The idea of the sport, is suprisingly not to arrive promptly and safely at the educational destination of their choice, but to agrevate and annoy as many other drivers as possible, without actually appearing to even see them! Extra points are gained for’ pulling out blind’, ‘pulling up blind’ ‘driving all the way to school blind’ etc..etc. Now I don’t claim to be the best driver in the world – thats the wife of course – but I do use my mirrors, indicators and road sence, and as for some ‘car aimers’ at roundabouts – just don’t get me started on that!!
Love It :):) but unfortunately very true, the one other thing not mentioned is the people who live by these schools who struggle to get out of their own drives at these times :rolleyes:

Council has reversed the decision and is back to cutting four times a year. Noticed a lot more cutting this week.
The Leader – News from Wrexham & Flintshire – U-turn sees Wrexham Council increase grass cuttings
I guess the relentless pressure from the public has told in the end, just shows ;)

I have travelled in all the neighbouring council areas and grass cutting is taking place as normal, you come back into Wrexham and it just looks scruffy and unkept. Another poor decision from the council.
This is what I keep saying… poor, poor decisions one after the other, so it continues :mad::mad:

I think the amount of services that the council are cutting in order to save the required amount of money shows how badly WCBC has been run for a number of years. The amount of money that has been wasted is frightening.
I don’t really want to pay more council tax but I’d rather pay say an extra £10-£15 a month if the money was spent sensibly. After coming back from holiday I could not believe how scruffy the Wrexham area looks.
As stated above, the whole town is being decimated and I just can’t see any way forward with WCBC.
I would put a double like on this observation if I could, spot on. :):)

I was talking to a local councillor last night and he said that this is just a tiny bit of the iceberg and we have no idea of the devastating cuts that are to follow
I would not argue at all with this statement, I don’t profess to know all the facts
and figures with regards to the finances in Wrexham, but from travelling around into other areas quite a lot, there does not appear to be the same consequences in other areas as to what is happening in Wrexham, I have stated on here before Wrexham is being decimated :(

Interesting that… as a parent of a child who goes to Acton school, I’m not sure where the 5 year olds play where you could see from the road. They have their own yard and don’t use the field to play and in January, their PE lessons took place in doors. The only thing you could have possibly seen is the football afterschool thing which I don’t think was even in January.
You have read the date wrong my post was 1st May not the 5th of January.. .its the American way of displaying the date I think..
But as I said they were young children kicking a ball through grass that was about 6 inches, I still would have thought they were 5 or 6 and it was in school time…. :):)
