When we took our car to be serviced at the main dealer, they always added a charge for windscreen washer. We always filled it up before it went! After questioning this charge they removed it, but it made me wonder what else they were charging for that they hadn’t done.
I always found main dealers to be worse at this overcharging than independent garages.Yep, had exactly the same experience & they also removed it when questioned. I wonder if it was the same main dealer? It was a few years ago & I still own the vehicle but no longer take it there for anything.
My wife sent her car into a small local garage for an MOT, they rang to inform her that although the car had passed it was probably going to need a new flux capacitor. After speaking to me she went to collect the car and told them she knew it was a joke and the car will be fine as long as she stays under 88 MPH! :)

Ultimately, that’s exactly what will have to happen and what will indeed happen.
Wrexham Council, along with every other council in Britain will have a growth plan already in place. They will be watching and waiting to see where the requirement lies, central and Welsh government will have, and will make funds available when the need is identified.
It’s an evolutionary process. That’s not been the case in other areas so far Sheefag, where my parents live (North Wales but not Wrexham) they recently built a housing estate (fairly large but nothing like the size of the one proposed for Llay) in an area with an already over subscribed primary school. You can imagine what has happened, people who have bought these homes feel their children should be automatically given places at this school, while long standing residents feel they should have priority (as they lived there before these additional homes were built). Clearly the trick would have been to extend this school BEFORE this estate was built but that never happened (it still hasn’t happened BTW, parents are having to transport their children to schools in other areas).

so thats an avarage of 26 arrests per month in wrexham alone?
Not sure how you got to that figure? It would appear to be higher than that if this 25000 arrests since 1997 is correct. I agree it does seem pretty difficult to believe unless of course many were multiple convictions of the same person(s)?
MetalheadParticipantBut nobody is forcing musicians to play there for free, can totally understand why some would not want to but can also appreciate why others may be willing to give it a try. If no acts come forward then that will be that but as I said earlier I really don’t see what’s wrong with trying this TBH.
MetalheadParticipantDon’t see what’s wrong with this TBH, nobody is forcing musicians to play there for free. Some may be willing to give it a go as an opportunity to display their talent?

Congestion in Wrexham does seem disproportionate to the number of people who lube here though…
Think you may want to correct that!
MetalheadParticipantCan’t say I’ve ever seen Godwin’s Law mentioned so early in a thread before! :)
Although I’ll be shocked to see anything other than the usual result come voting day in Wrexham it’s good to see new candidates deciding to throw their hats in the ring. Best of luck Cllr. Wynn.
MetalheadParticipantI’m still a tad confused as to why there needs to be more moderation on this forum? Can’t say I’ve ever seen anything on here that I felt was unfit for human consumption TBH.
That’s just my personal opinion, I’m guessing from some of these comments that not all share this view? It’s totally up to the forum owners how they want to run this place, if a Wrexham.com naughty step is really required then fair enough! :p
MetalheadParticipantNot wishing to cite Godwin’s Law but why exactly was that mentioned thread locked? It may not have been relevant to Wrexham but it seemed pretty harmless (to me anyway). Could it not just have been moved to the ‘Not about Wrexham’ forum?
Also 28,000+ views on 380 posts on the Llay homes thread would appear to show this place is as lurkertastic as ever, I find it quite hard to believe they are all bots!
MetalheadParticipantI wouldn’t say it was a case of ‘users’ coming out of the woodwork, more like most seeming to be unaware this facility even existed. When my daughter and her friends used it (around 4 years ago) they had to book weeks in advance. I’m guessing that most wanted this facility for the same kind of time (late afternoon weekdays) and there were large periods when it was underutilized. Perhaps if it were to be run in a slightly different manner it could remain viable?, off peak periods where it could booked by any age group or hired for one off instances for example. Things such as booking a session with an sound engineer for making a CD using backing tracks could be an interesting idea for a birthday present etc., I’m not aware of anywhere else around these parts offering anything like this.
I notice that nearly 700 people have signed the online petition so far, I consider that quite a lot. The few people I have spoken to about this consider The Vic to be an asset of community value, the problem appears to be that to date it’s been Wrexham’s best kept secret and if it is to survive that will surely need to change.
