okey they may have torched a cop car, but we can forgive them that for the persecution they get from the police….[/QUOTE

Sounds like you’re the one with the grudge against the police. How can you show emphathy with people who cause damage and mayhem wherever they go and then claim to be victimised?

The police are totally powerless in these situations as they can’t compete with the human rights crap and red tape they are bound by. I would tolerate travellers more if they weren’t so disrepectful of our laws and so bloody messy.

The police time, the arson, the paperwork, the clean up;we are all paying for this through our taxes, so sorry if i can’t ‘forgive’.

In light of the information coming from the school regarding the true situation, I don’t suppose for one minute that any one of the dissenters and bandwagoneers who ‘contributed’ to this thread would eat humble pie and make a public apology to the school.
    Sorry, we got it wrong!

I agree. This did seem to get rather heated too quickly before the school were afforded a right of reply. A reply, by the way, which I think was perfectly acceptable, although they’re now being criticised for producing too many leaflets!

On another note, it’s good to see the strength of feeling towards the preservation of the Welsh language – I just think the school was the wrong target; after all, like all educational establishments, it’s about pupil numbers and if their marketing tells them that they may attract more pupils if they target Polish parents, then so be it…..providing their main focus is the Wrexham born children of course.

Totally agree. They seem to target ladies as they tend to be more polite than men. I don’t think there’s much can be done as the Town is a public highway whereas EM is private land so they would need permission. I also think it impacts the genuine charity collectors who are not commission based
    My advice..be polite but firm.

It seems to me that the offenders are easily identified by the residents, so if the plods got off their backsides and used them things sticking out of their arse, the might see who the perpetrators where, the reality is they make good money out of the seized bikes which is why they do what they do…

What a stupid comment. It doesn’t even make sense. Who cares if the ‘plod’ make any any money from this initiative (which I seriously doubt). I’m sure the residents would be happy enough to see the problem eradicated.

Have to agree with Ben. If this job was ‘created’ for existing staff, it wouldn’t have been advertised externally. From what I understand, it takes a lot of jumping through hoops to advertise externally and managers have to justify why the job cannot be filled internally first of all. I do think, however, that this role could be encompassed within senior management duties, although I don’t know the setup so this idea may be unworkable. I really don’t think the council is doing anything improper in this regard, especially compared to other large institutions such as the aforementioned university.

Looking on the Valuation Office website, the Eagles Meadow car park rateable value has remained the same since 2010 so their rates have not increased. There is the obvious rise in the annual poundage, set by Welsh Government, but all businesses are subject to this rise so unless I’m reading it wrong, I can’t see the justification for the increase in parking charges. Simple answer: use the cheaper Council car parks and walk to Eagles Meadow if need be.

I’ve stated before that a revaluation is needed for all businesses, but this is no silver bullet as the Welsh Government will probably just increase the annual poundage to compensate for any rateable value decreases as they did after the 2010 revaluation.

Although this belongs to a different thread, I still feel that the rougher element of Wrexham is more visible nowadays than ever before. As someone who is based in Wxm 3 days a week, I feel we need a zero tolerance policy on drink/drugs in the Town Centre. I continually witness anti social behaviour. Just today, on the High Street outside Lloyds Bar, I witnessed 6 well known faces, obviously drunk/drugged up, shouting and swearing in full view of children and families and all swigging cheap cider.

I think Wrexham could really promote the café culture ideal, but not until these people are driven out of Town. Don’t give me any nonsense about rehabilitation etc.. these people are too far gone and not interested in bettering themselves.

Once again, they upset the hard working tax paying members of the public by NOT emptying OUR bins.

    Here is a good idea
Why nor refuse to empty the Councils bins ? That would make them listen, so think about that while you stay at home tomorrow watching TV.

But you can refuse to empty our bins and loose any sympathy we may have had.. the choice is yours.

A bit harsh don’t you think. I’m sure not all council workers agree with the strike.

on a side note, I’m amazed Brantano stayed open this long. It was overpriced and rarely busy. Just my opinion of course.

With the much needed rates revaluation being put back to 2017 by the Government, I really can’t see any Wrexham business voting for what is essentially a rate increase.

Like others, I see more positives than negatives. The location would be good and this area, which contains some lovely buildings, would benefit from any investment. I’m sure king street also would benefit due to its proximity and it may see the creation of shops other than estate agents or fast food in that particular area. I’d call this a good bit of business. Don’t forget, just because someone may live in an older persons complex, this doesn’t make them immobile and most will have family who will make use of the local facilities. You said it yourself dylan, you’re a cynic. I think you’re off the mark with this one though.
