Given that the price to fly to West Virginia is only about £600 return and that they will be staying in tents then the price of £3495 seems very high even after including the cost of food and trips etc. Someones making an absolute killing out of this.

BigBrother: I hear that taking regular walks in the countryside can be good for mental health (you might have to pay for the privilege though)

The parking charges came in half way through one quarter, so you can only use half of that quarter to get accurate results.

I think I have really touched a nerve suggesting you may be a councillor. Are you going to tell us who you really are?

Although using your own flawed logic that charging was only introduced half way through Q2, this would create a total reduction in cars parking of (4829/2=2414)+5920 = 8334. So using your own logic, and your gracious acceptance of rounding, ChillDoubts headline is in fact totally accurate.

BigBrother: The essence of this debate is that ChillDoubt has said visitor/parking numbers are down since parking charges were implemented. You argued that they were down REGARDLESS (your choice of emphasis) of charging. This was not true based on the figures being debated that were clear for you to see. You say you are ‘fed up with false statemens(sic) and stating them as facts’, but you are happy to do this yourself.

If you want to argue around accidentally using the word parking instead of visitors in the title, to avoid and deflect from the essence of the debate, then good for you. If it were possible to correct thread titles, then i am sure ChillDoubt would update it to keep you happy. Will you update your inaccurate replies also?

Percentages are essential to properly understand differences in figures.

Bigbrother: No, i am not a dog walker. Although i see no reason as to why dog walkers should not have two 20 minutes walk a day, gaining all the health benefits that this would bring to both themselves and their dogs. Maybe you would prefer they become sedentary and put a strain on the NHS instead.

I am guessing that you are one the councillors that voted this scheme in. I base this on:
    – You lack the intelligence to grasp the concept of the financial year
    – You lack the intelligence to grasp the concept of percentages
    – You struggle to read and interpret figures put before you
    – You’re still trying to convince people what a great scheme you have come up with

The parking charges were implemented on 21st May 2018. This would mean the change occurred about half way through Quarter 1 as per the table of figures that has been released (it is quite clear if you bother to read these figures that they are based on the financial year). No figures have been released that do not include parking charges in at least part of the quarter concerned.

Quarter 1: Drop of about 15% of cars (only half the period includes the parking charges
Quarter 2: Drop of about 29% of cars (full period includes parking charges)
Quarter 3: Drop of about 50% of cars (but only 2 out of 3 months of data included)
Quarter 4: No figures because financial Q4 has not occurred yet

I am sure you will be man enough to offer ChillDoubt an apology

When talking about ‘Long-term vision to create easy to use public rights of way’, the council state:
“Providing access to greenspace, parks or the countryside through the rights of way network, for the majority of the local population, is an important part of the work of Wrexham County Borough Council.

“It brings health benefits and is a relatively low cost way of gaining fresh air and exercise and improving mental well-being. Whether this is walking in a group, alone or with a dog, running, cycling or horse-riding, encouraging more people to take exercise is a key goal of the Welsh Government.

“Fitter, healthier people reduce the strain on the National Health Service, which helps the economy.

So why make people pay for the privilege of improving their mental health, fitness, and reducing the strain on the NHS. The councils own statement said they expected numbers of visitors to drop. Another example of unjoined up thinking of councillors looking for quick gains. How long will it be before they spend tens of thousands to pay a consultant to suggest how they can improve the health of Wrexham residents.

    billycoen:
I think the logic the original poster was using was that a Welsh speaking woman (99.9% chance she also speaks English) would be looked after by someone who could also speak English. That nurse would also be able to speak to any visiting French of German speakers whose grasp of the English language was not as advanced as Welsh people.

According to the official report (Section 3.1), if no measures are taken to reduce the emissions on the A483, then the A483 will become compliant with the law in 2018, with further reductions in emission levels predicted in future years.

So if the A483 is already compliant why are they even looking at spending £275,000 of tax payers money on this??
