You know what? Leave? Remain? At this point, I actually don’t care. What I do care about is the divisive, nasty, name-calling, disrespectful and destructive way that differences of opinion are being discussed across social media. Remoaners? Gammons? If Brexit has reduced the level of intelligence of people in this country to that of keyboard warriors making personally offensive remarks to people who don’t agree with their point of view, then Yellowhammer be damned. THAT is the real harm that Brexit has done, and will continue to do, to this country.

    Peace out

I’m prepared to bet that any loss of votes caused by Ian Lucas’ stance on Brexit will be more than replaced by those who have a new-found respect for his determination to challenge the Government on its dodgy dealings behind closed doors with the likes of Dodgy Dom and his ‘Social Media Ninjas’.

Yes, but cannot access Local Authority IT support if they go outside of the WCBC ‘approved’ supply chain.

It’s more a case that local suppliers are not awarded ‘preferred supplier’ status and frequently not offered the opportunity to even tender for the contract in the first place.

Anyone ever looked at how much Wrexham Council pays for IT equipment for schools? A hell of a lot more than ‘market forces’ would dictate for the same gear, I can tell you from experience…
I am sure Wrexham contractors work outside the county boundary .Get a life
Not really sure how this is relevant. Isn’t it a reasonable expectation that local council taxpayer money should be fed back into the local economy when contracts are up for tender? If local contractors are available to undertake the work, they should, by all logic, be able to undertake the work for a lower cost than a contractor in Sheffield/Manchester/London and therefore ensure that our money is being spent to best effect?

It depends greatly upon how your interaction with the service has come about. If you are the parent or person connected to a child who has become looked-after by the Local Authority, then your recourse is through the family court. If you are a foster carer or other party, then really speaking your first port of call should be the Council’s internal complaints procedure, followed by representation to the Public Service Ombudsman for Wales.

In the very first instance I would suggest 1) putting a call in to the CAB for advice and 2) getting in touch with Lesley Griffiths, who is well versed in complaints against the Wrexham fostering service.
…on the other hand are they just encouraging the dependency on the Welfare State.
Or just feeding the children of families who need a helping hand?

Amazed at the lack of compassion shown here. Shameful.
They should lock the parents up and cart off the kids to foster homes where they would be cared for.
Unwanted kids who will grow up that starving your kid is the norm and that luxuries are more important.

Lunch clubs are a sticking plaster and mean that the bad parents are rewarded and have even more dosh to splash out on fags n booze.

There are some right scum families out there and a lot of us know them.
Wow. Just wow.

Hardship happens. Poverty is a reality. The preconception that all parents who struggle to feed their kids, claim free school meals, are unable to work or on a low-wage are living in the lap of luxury sucking on the tit of the welfare state is dangerous and ignorant. Yes, we all know of families where iPhones and Xboxes take priority over fresh fruit and food, but they are in the minority.

Some parents using foodbanks and claiming benefits are truly struggling, but doing their very best to do the best that they can for their kids, and if that means that they need to send their kids to a playscheme to get lunch when school is out, why shouldn’t they take advantage of the generosity of the volunteers and charitable donations that make this possible.

Lock them up and stick their kids in foster care? For the failings of a system that makes it almost impossible for some parents to actually work and care for their kids at the same time? For the failing abomination that is Universal Credit which has forced parents to do without money for weeks at a time while their claims are processed/transferred from other benefits? I truly hope you never fall on hard times.

Its is abuse if you choose fags and booze over feeding your kids!

    And weed and tattoos !
But can we hold kids responsible for the choices of their parents? Should they go hungry!

And better that a hundred kids who could probably do without it benefit than one child who couldn’t misses out.
