Local MP Ian Lucas has today said that Wrexham has been ‘cut off’ due to the issues at the A483/A55 junction.

Mr Lucas tweeted to say: “A483/A55 junction position is very serious: at times, Wrexham is cut off.

“We have businesses and livelihoods being seriously affected.”

“I have contacted the Highways Agency yesterday and today to stress just how bad it is.”

At midday today, with normal traffic loads on other roads, the bypass was queued northbound from Dodleston Lane. Last night and yesterday morning we reported on how queues meant that people were stuck for hours in traffic.

UPDATE: Highways have issued an update to work taking place:

On Friday 23 January 2015 the eastern half of the A55/A483 roundabout will be closed from 9:00pm to 5:00am on Saturday 24 January 2015 to install traffic management.

From 8:00pm on Friday 23 January 2015 until 7:00am on Saturday 24 January 2015 the east and westbound carriageways of the A55 will be closed at the junction with the A483. Traffic, in both directions, will be directed to leave the A55, go over the roundabout and re-join the main carriageway.

From 9:00pm on Friday 23 January 2015 until 7:00am on Saturday 24 January 2015 the A483 north and southbound will be closed from the B5102 at Rossett to the junction with the A55.

From 9:00pm on Saturday 24 January 2015 until 7:00am on Sunday 25 January 2015 the A483 north and southbound will be closed from the B5102 at Rossett to the junction with the A55.

From Monday 26 January 2015 the A55/A483 roundabout and all slip roads and approaches will be reduced to 2 lanes running until 20 March 2015.

All works are, of course, subject to cancellation due to weather reasons, particularly at this time of year.

UPDATE: A video has been taken by Ali Owen of the queues this evening:
