Rex HamParticipantI view the shortage of lettuce as an infringement of my human rights. The Spanish government are denying us these basics of human existence as a punishment for our legitimate vote to leave the EU. I shall take this matter all the way to the Court of human rights in Strasbourg if I have to. Oh wait……
Rex HamParticipantI was travelling from Wrexham Station this morning and there was no parking available there. There will be plenty of parking photo’s to take there.
Seriously parkingmad. If the cars are parked and causing an obstruction to the highway, report it to the police, don’t post threats on here. The parkers might not read this forum anyway!!

So, come on fellow fellows and others, let’s not vote with our feet
It’s people voting with their feet that won the referendum for “leave” in the UK and elected Trump in the USA. This practice, which as you say Daave63 is unhygienic and needs to be outlawed, by law if necessary. Can you imagine who would run our beloved County Council if this practice was practiced in Wrexham.
I commend the motion to the house.

Rex HamParticipant
Yes business will offer ‘incentives ‘ quite often but why should we as ratepayers have to pay for the workers in the Public Sector.
Well you might as well extend that point to cover wages full stop. Let’s have the council staffed by volunteers then ratepayers will save a huge amount of money. If the wage bill were to rise by hundreds of thousands of pounds as you suggest to cover “perks”, or any significant amount, it would be picked up at audit.

Rex HamParticipantWrexham County Borough Council is an employer like any other. People who work for the council do so for their own reasons, but the reward is, I would suggest the main motive. Like any other employer, WCBC have to put a range of benefits in place to attract or retain the best employees like any other employer. Quite frankly Carol Thomas, it is a cost of running the business. You could argue the council has money tied up in the guildhall, that could be released and used “at a time of such massive service custs” (sic). It isn’t as simple as cost against cost.
It also occurs to me that there is a cost in answering petty “freedom of information” requests that could divert to other things.
Rex HamParticipantWhy the need for a big debate?
The site has been listed by WAG.
The site has a covenant, which says it can only be used for educational purposes
The area needs a new school. As has been said, an imaginative architect will come up with plans to meet all the criteria. An imaginative lawyer will also come up with a definition to suit an interpretation of the covenant. So some kind of museum or arts establishment could be deemed “educational”.
Instead of fighting the “listing” why don’t WCBC go back to the WAG to ask for funding to develop a new school on the site, on the basis they have to use the existing building at the say so of WAG.
Every body wins!
Rex HamParticipantOh please, it’s hardly the crime of the century. Tell her to bugger off if she approaches you.
Rex HamParticipantThree days after leaving Wrexham, he is appointed manager at York City. They must see something the Wrexham board didn’t!
Rex HamParticipantI think I only ever went in the Raglan once, I was scared for my life!!!
Unlike that genteel watering hole “the long pull”, where Daave63 behaved disgracefully yesterday shoutin’ and cussin’ and fightin’. I sipped my whitesnake and cask sherry cocktail and left promptly.

Rex HamParticipantIt’s a phenomenon peculiar to Wrexham people I think. Go to Chester or Shrewsbury or Broughton and as you say Rex buy mostly the same stuff you could get in town! If you include Eagles Meadow, Wrexham has probably got a better selection of shops than it has ever had. We never had a Debenhams before. The shame is that some of the local, independent shops have closed down, but that’s because we don’t by enlarge support them. The town centre is still there, it just moved down High St a bit.
And yes, like you Rex, this Rex is proud of where he comes from.
