I cant believe the amount of press this issue has had. If you want to use a pay and display car park, you pay. If you don’t want to pay you don’t use it. It really is that simple.
Trust me overzealous parking fines since ANPR has come in is hot local press fodder up and down the country. People just don’t like being fined. Especially not by private firms.

It seems to me from the article like the Wrexham Music Cooperative have their hands full making sure that music provision in schools is maintained to a decent standard after all of the cuts and threats from the budgets.

But now as per usual because Ty Pawb is such a political albatross hanging around the neck of many elected councillors they are trying to harass the Wrexham Music Cooperative into using the space because the uptake on the usage is not that great and because the WMC will attract arts and music style grants in which the council is so desperate to point out that that is what the space is for.

I think the bottom line is that Ty Pawb is not being ran by the right type of people to bring in both commercial and not for profit and community ventures across the county to use it. They are still expecting people to jump at wanting to use Ty Pawb or knowing how to go about organising something in Ty Pawb without them doing any of the real nitty gritty outreach work.
Interpretation of the “waiting time” I find a tad confusing. Does it mean the first 20 minutes are free and you don’t need a ticket.
Yes – staying in the car park for less than 20 minutes and no ticket is needed.

Then at minute 19 you either need to drive out of the car park or buy a ticket to stay longer.
Many thanks to council leader Mark Pritchard for the work he has done with the talks with owners of the Euro car parks. At last a good result for the town. Can we now assume then Mr Pritchard, to make things clear to everyone who shop in Island green, does this mean the first 20 minutes are free and you only pay after this 20 minute period.
The most common sense interpretation of this rule would be to say that you have 20 minutes waiting/grace period between when you enter the Island Green car park in your vehicle and the ANPR cameras logs your registration number and when you exit the car park and the ANPR camera logs your registration number a second time to record the total time you spent in the car park.

Now if this time between entry and exit is under 20 minutes and you have not purchased a ticket to stay longer then you would not expect to receive a fine regardless of what you were doing in Island Green (subject I’m sure to their terms and conditions of any exclusions – e.g. commercial activities such as flogging t-shirts out of the back of your car). So that might be waiting for a Domino’s Pizza, Click and Collect from Argos, picking someone up from the Station or popping in to get a quick Costa.

In theory you’d probably also be able to wait 19 minutes before purchasing a ticket to stay longer and not expect to receive a fine. It would be reasonable to expect that you might change your plans last minute and not want to have to leave to go to another car park or exit and re-enter?

My guess is though as soon as you buy a ticket the time you need to leave will be the time (if you bought one straight away) specified on the ticket and 20 minutes doesn’t get added on.

Labour are busy crucifying themselves with their REMAIN comments …. Boris is a tit but ….

Watson is a colossal numpty of the highest order – you think he’s unpopular amongst Brexiteers – try & find a friend of his in actual Labour’s rank & file support.

He has been the dirtiest snake going back to 2016. We ignore what he says on anything as he has no swing within the PLP or the CLP. Most of his allies left to Change UK (or whatever they are called now).

Unfortunately when he gives sound bites to the press they are considered coming from a Labour source.

It is perhaps interesting that the detractors of Ty Pawb were referred to as seagulls when Eric Cantona once famously said:

“When seagulls follow the trawler it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea”.

Which perfectly represents what the Local Executive Board did when they heard Welsh Arts Grants were being thrown about by the WAG and they had a failing space that needed investment.

Now they are still following hoping for more arts grants with no guarantee of getting them. They are going to be left with an embarrassing failed space.

We’ll see who are the seagulls.

The council report is still bollocking on about how important the car parking fees are – whereas hardly anyone is visiting the main purpose of Ty Pawb which is as an arts hub. Other than the initial exhibition – looking at the figures – hardly anyone turned up to see the other installations.

They should never try and use the fact that people are parking at the people’s market multi story to try and justify the fact that the whole project is making revenue and doing well. They have basically swindled the WAG of their arts grant. They have also absolutely shafted a number of local traders by overpromising the footfall and revenue with the initial consultants report – which they have now ripped up (how much did that cost?!).

They are still pulling the wool over the Wrexham public’s eyes over how colossal a failure the entire project has been and a massive waste of public money all round. Just wait until a few year’s time when they decide to try and hand it over to private commercial ventures and no-one will touch it with a barge pole.

They won’t demolish the space because they find their car park too precious – but I am struggling to see what private commercial venture the space below will get converted into? Perhaps another supermarket – a lot of those seem to be popping up.

They have also strategically tried to lay some of the blame for the planned and expected failure on the negativity of us on social media and in the press.

However, if you make something shit and everyone calls it out for being shit then those who produced the bad thing in the first place are ultimately to blame for the failure.

Perhaps even more so you have to ask why the council did the equivalent of taking a steak van to a vegan festival. The market for the vision they were trying to sell in Wrexham didn’t exist and despite overwhelming market research that said no thanks – they ploughed ahead regardlessly.
